I was in a shop today and while browsing I witnessed they had some of his stuff. I see there is a big fuss around him here so he must be good. Can any of you kind lads recomend something? What does he sound like? Sorry for sounding a bit ignorant...

:)

Mean boy Forlorn... I downloaed Place to Be... It's really nice. I like his vox a lot! Can somebody post the lyrics of this song?

nick boys voice rocks...Iwas'nt overly impressed to first time I heard it but it grows on you, theres a music shop in dublin that has the blanket he wore on an album cover hanging on its wall

Nick Drake's music is nice and very relaxing , and indeed , he had a very special voice.
and he was depressed and all that so i like him

well he was a bloodly genius and i can recommend everything he ever recorded. including the home recordings at 'tamworth in arden'. he did 3 studio albums, and they are all fantastic. if you like melancholic stuff then the first album 'five leaves left' and the last, pink moon, are the ones. the 2nd album 'bryter layter' is fantastic also. there is an out-takes album called time of no reply too. which is also ace. he is one of the best guitarists i have ever heard, and dont get me started about his voice and his songs...i have learned about 15 of his songs and i cant stop playing them...

by the way, type in nick drake mp3 in google and download place to be, the home recording version. its devastating.

As Danny said: Genius. "Five Leaves Left" is the best album to start, IMHO. If you want to download some songs, try "River Man", "Day Is Done" or "Fruit Tree". These are the ones that got me hooked, probably cause of the fancy string arrangements. His more subtle songs are equally good or better.

You can download all the home recordings at www.nickdrake.net (--> music --> listen). Mostly early demos of his songs, but also some great cover tunes.

Cheers lads. Place to be was ace... I'll download some more stuff and then buy some of his albums... :)

Me thinx Five leaves left is by far the best, YOU GO BUY, Now!

And it may interest you that Jonsi(the singer of Sigurros) was removed by police in city hall for protesting against the building of th Karahnjukavirkjun damn.

Pink Moon, there is no purer album to find anywhere!

Nice acoustic songs full of Passion! And recorded at the first take! thats what make it so special!

PINK MOON is the first album you should check out Sol. Its amazing. Bryter Layter cant touch me that deep, still good. Five LL is good as well.

he's one of me favourite guitarists. roy harper can give him a run for his money as well judging by what i heard last night...

nick drake was proper doom and his songs are all about proper doom and you can feel it, not like kakatonia . go-ed nick, go!

Just got Pink Moon... But I won't listen to it today cos today, and yesterday, are Radiohead days only... It sounds stupid but I'm in the best mood for yorke's desperate voice... Crap mood that is...

I know it's the same feeling but yorke's voice is haunting me mind for the past few days... i can't escape it... the cd won't stop... it's not me fault...
