hey i recently got a nice new room for my project studio.
i treaded the walls with some absorbers and diffusers etc.
Drums and Amps sound really nice to me.
There´s no more space for a vocal room though.
What should i do?
I have always been tracking vocals in the middle of the room in my old place.
know that i have my nice new room i wan´t things to sound better of course.

any ideas of what i can do? or where i should place the mic? should i buy a micscreen? http://www.thomann.de/de/the_tbone_micscreen.htm help me!

You say you have a decent live room, so why not put the vocalist with his/her back against one wall and singing out to the open room? Early reflections are minimized and you can throw up a room mic for ambiance. If the vocalist needs to sing with the band as part of the scratch track, just put him in the control room with you and hand him a 57.

hi,

build three or four broadband-absorbers on stands / wheels (aka "gobos") and place them around the singer to reduce the influence of the room.
btw, these mic-screens are pretty useless. (=> in german: http://www.sengpielaudio.com/LiveEndDeadEndUndDasReflexionFilter.pdf)

hey thanks was thinkin of that anyway! i´m building a portable vocal room know.
two wooden walls with some absorbing material stuffed inside.
what do you think of this?
