Okay so here goes, I've composed some sort of a symphonic medley...
I have a music company here in France, and we'd like to compose for anything
from commercials, radio spots to movies etc... So this piece is mainly a sampler
for our "orchestra" section.

Anyway, it'd be cool if you had pointers, even if you think it's not relevant :)

Here's the piece : Orchestral piece

Thanks guys.

Very nice! Yeah, some of the percussion is a bit loud but maybe that's what you wanted. The only thing that I can think of is that the panning of the instruments is very centered except near the end where you do a ping-pong thing with the violins. That kind of violin panning thing is not possible in a symphony because all the violins are on one side, usually the conductors left. But still, I like it.

There is a fine line between loud and too loud...
Because I do want the percussions loud, but
obviously what is "loud" for some might be
"too loud" for others...

The "ping-pong" thing is actually high violas and
low violins, which would be consistent with some
orchestra placement, but it is true that the panning
is a bit dull overall... I'll try and modify that,
thanks for bringing it up to my attention.

For Mendel : This piece was done with shitload of
samples, but mainly East West / Quantum Leap
Symphonic Orchestra Silver & Gold edition.

Thanks for your comments everyone :)

A handy guide to orchestra panning that was hanging around on my hd!

That is pretty handy, yes..

But the east west orchestra gold and silver allready have the instruments panned as a preset, so it should fit into the mix quite well...

I think the part around 1:50 has a beautifull solo violin on it, and i like the whole piece, which is, in my opinion, not "too goddamn long" ;)
took a long while to load though... hehe...

You did a good job on the velocity as well, really brings the instruments to live, like they should be!
