Dark One
The Tainted Dogma
LOL - now we're picking on song titles? It sure beats "frolicking through the daisy fields of armageddon" or something.
.
man there was so much floyd-fellating going on on the old opeth board. anybody remember that? man what a shitty board that was.
Pink Floyd > metal
Dark Side of the Moon < most of the rest of Pink Floyd

imo, Pink Floyd are to be acknowledged for their innovative (back then) use of synths and studio experimentation. the best songwriting (imo), however, is on their first album (Piper at the Gates of Dawn) and was mostly done by Syd Barrett who lost it not long afterwards (after too much acid). I prefer 1970s bands like Genesis, King Crimson, and ELP (Emerson, Lake & Palmer) over Pink Floyd. Better compositions, better musicianship.
On-topic: Pink Floyd influences are way too obvious imo in some Enslaved albums (Monumension I think it was), in Anathema (new style), in Porcupine Tree, in Opeth (later albums), and another band which I just forgot...
now that's just fucking ludicrous
