Just started using these in the studio recently.
anyone else think they have an obscene ammount of output, as in way to fucking much??
there is no way to use them with an api pre, clip city.
fuck em , im buying some old townhouse mics instead

i've never found them to have all that much gain...but that being said, even dynamic mics usually need some good padding in front of an API to not clip the input

I have no problems with the NT5's either.

When I'm recording drums, I always have the gain REALLY low to avoid clipping and even then the signal is pretty hot with these.

What were you using 'em on? Close-mic'ing I hope (cuz if they clip like that on OH's, then CHRIST...)

Yes they're loud I always have to engage the pad button on my digimax LT
