what is this new wave of american heavy metal? Is it merely metal-core? If it is, I almost feel bad having bands like Killswitch Engage or Norma's Jeans representing the US.

but, if this isnt what it is, please, let us hear your opinion.

I'm pretty sure it's Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, Chimaira, Lamb of God, God Forbid, Trivium.

Yeah Im pretty sure that this is where american metal is going to stay for a while. It goes in cylcles though and soon people will get sick of this as well. It seems like it all has the same elements and relatively the same sound. I am however, a huge fan of The Black Dahlia Murder.:headbang:

At least some people appreciate BDM. They may have the metalcore image but they have solos instead of breakdowns, and are awesome live. While metalcore is kinda silly Shadows fall has its moments and Lamb of God is really cool(gotta support the home town band!).

I just can't stand the Black Dahlia Murder.

But as has been said previously, Arsis is pretty much THE best American metal band right now. ...aside from Nevermore.
