Yes there is a scene in NZ! how can you guys not know bands like Backyard Burial, Falciform, Bloodwreath, Graymalkin, Forced To Submit, Dawn of Azazel, and of course the previously mentioned Demoniac.....
Dawn of Azazel, didn't they do an European underground tour last year? That name reminds me somehow...

Real World's Mad Girl
i recently spent a month there .. and i have to say i didnt see anything at all of the metal scene.. i wasnt sure where to start really ( i did ask here but got much negativity)
i can kinda see why people think there isnt so much going on..
i had a thorougly wonderful time there.. my cousin got married to a comedian (ewen *westie* gilmour)
and i got to see a lot of the country..
i missed big day out by a few days saddly and i believe that was a rockin one and a half!
while there are a lot of alternative people there .. i didnt see that there was a lot of room for the music scene.. maybe i spent to much time with the olds...
but it was a great month... makes me really appreciate what we have in UK musicwise,

yeah... demoniac!
they recorded 'prepare for war' and 'stormblade' in wellington. has anyone heard any of this material? it's pretty shit when compared to 'the fire and the wind', the album they made after relocating to england and getting a few new members together. when demoniac were in new zealand their style was totally different.. it was only when the vocalist behemoth and guitarist heimdall (sam totman, a true fucking legend) moved to england and got herman li (guitar), matej setinc (drums) and diccon harper (bass) that they developed their more melodic style. the eagle spreads its wings, daggers and ice, demoniac spell, demons of the night, the fire and the wind... AWESOME SONGS! FUCKING AWESOME, to be precise. it's a shame the band split up though... but sam totman and herman li went on to form the power metal band DRAGONFORCE, which is FAR BETTER. dragonforce is my fave band, totman and li are fucking gods. has anyone heard them before? www.dragonforce.com HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!
im from south otago by the way, no metal scene down here but i living in christchurch all last year and theres some decent bands around.. anyone heard of Aphalon? pretty awesome black metal..
keep it metal. demoniac rule, check out dragonforce if you don't know them and are into power metal..... amazing shit! they are on www.mp3.com just search for them..
