We don't want NFF sobbing like a baby, so we're moving the discussion here.

Who else thinks Lem got fucked up the ass???
You've got my vote.

Lem's only concern was protecting the team, and Shane couldn't fucking see it. I can't believe that Shane really thought that the situation called for killing his friend. Not just killing his friend but killing him in such a chickenshit way. Fucker.

It will be at least January before we see any new episodes. Hopefully the one March start they had was a fluke.

To be completely honest, Shane's throwing rocks at Lem from his glass porch....did Mara not break into their money train stash, steal money, lie about it, and get her mother involved? That was way more damaging to the Team than anything Lem did. Lem was going to PRISON over it.

Spike has been showing Season 1 and it makes me want to throw up every time they show any kind of comraderie with the Strike Team, which there was a lot of before the money train and Shane's transfer. Vic is going to regret getting Shane out of Antwon's grip when he finds out. Which he will, I have no doubt. It's just a matter of how long they want to drag it out before he does.

The season 5 finale already??? Jesus. So the series isn't over? For some reason I thought Season 5 would end it. I haven't seen any of it, so I'm outta here!

They should mix the Shield and OZ!!!!!!!!
Which by far had the worst ending a series could ever have!!!!!!

Why was it bad? I thought it was probably the most realistic endings for a series. The prisoners ended up staying..............prisoners:OMG: Yeah, it was kind of an anti-climax but it was more realistic than most shows. I can't wait for the next season of The Shield!!! I think the next season will have even crazier plot twists than this last season. It looks like Forrest Whittaker will be back also:rock: It will definitely be different with Lem being gone though. Lem and Vic have always been my favorite characters

Something that I thought about last night was the fact that Lem's death was so fucked up, that it caused me to forget a lot of the other stuff that went on in that episode.
In all the discussions I've had with other people about that episode things like Danny's baby are never talked about. They didn't come right out and say it, but it was pretty obvious that Vic is the Dad.
Then there was the whole thing with Claudette becoming captain, and Billings acting like a fucking baby...
Dutch requesting a transfer...
yadda, yadda, yadda.

Dutch was after that transfer in a previous episode, actually, I believe it was offered to him because Claudette called in a favor, but anyway, since his plots have been pretty lame lately, I wouldn't mind seeing him go. There's something very wrong with him investigating Lem's death. Even though it obviously would be too weird to have the Strike Team do it, I don't like Dutch being that involved. But since he and Billings seem to be the only detectives left in the Barn.....

As for Danny's baby, I figured all along that it was Vic's kid. Her turning that paperwork in just because Kavanaugh told her to showed that.

As for Claudette being captain, that could either be a good thing or a bad thing. It depends on where they go with it. It could make for some excellent writing, or some lame and predictable scenes.

I was aghast for hours after watching that. But you know, as soon as they got seperated I knew that's exactly what would happen. The worst part about it was the fact that all the shit Lem was in this season sprouted from trying to save Shane's ass last season. I hope Vic puts one between his eyes next season....it's the only way it can end.

What's amazing about that show is how it screws with your perceptions. They spent all season making you think Cavanaugh was a total prick, but at the end of the day he really WAS the good guy..

I wouldn't go so far as to say he was the good guy, but he's definitely better than Shane. Although that bullshit line at the end, "Are you happy now?" was completely uncalled for. In my opinion, that's something that Vic should have said to HIM, not the other way around. And the shit he pulled at Corinne's house was just plain creepy.

Clay, I thought of another thing, since you mentioned Danny's baby. Remember Connie, the crack whore? Did you ever wonder if Bryan was Vic's kid, too? I still do. Corinne asked him, and he said Connie was already pregnant when he met her, but the way he checked on Bryan in the foster home really makes me wonder.

I never really thought about it. I don't know, I think he was probably telling the truth though. Unless he knew Connie before she became a crackwhore, I don’t think he would have been getting it on with her. I know he’s slept with just about every woman under the sun…but a crackwhore?

As for Kavanaugh and his shit that he pulled at Corrine’s, and his “Are you happy?” line, I’m with you. What a shitheel. Fucker. I know he was out to bust a cop killer, and I should have been rooting for him, but I hate that sonofabitch.

I just never understood Vic's soft spot for Connie. But he gave her money and drugs all the time, and even had his wife watch her baby while he tried to detox her (poor Ronnie took a black eye and empty wallet for that effort). It seemed to go way beyond the cop/CI relationship. Although, I suppose he was the same way with Emolia, before he found out she's the one that caused the shitstorm.

I hated Kavanaugh from his first interview with Lem. I knew it was all going to end badly. I just didn't know how.

The show does a pretty good job of messing up your values, showing the bad side of good characters and good side of bad characters. I mean, look how they've turned Kavanaugh into the enemy, evil and unlikable, the guy we cheer against, even though he's technically the good guy. Yeah, there's the whole thing with Corrine, but he was already painted as the bad guy before then, and really he was driven to it by Vic's own actions, showing how Vic corrupts everyone he comes into contact with, even the "uncorruptable".

As for Shane killing Lem, yeah it was awful, but ultimately not shocking (it would be in any other show, but you come to expect the unexpected with this show), and ever since the bad blood boiled over last season, you started to figure that one of these two would end up killing the other, so I sort of saw it coming when they split up to ditch Kavanaugh.

Anyone know why there were only 11 episodes in season 5?

I didn't count. But that doesn't make sense. Season 4 started late because they handed in 12 and FX asked for 3 more and wouldn't air until they'd all been turned in. I'm surprised they didn't go with 12 or 15 again.

As for Lem's end, I did see something coming throughout the episode, I just didn't know what direction it would come in til Shane turned up alone. But as for his ultimate end, I thought something would happen to him in Mexico, like it did for Gilroy. Especially since they were using Gilroy's people again.

Did they ever say what Danny named her kid? I don't remember if she said or not. "Daniel" is in my head for some reason. And I suppose his last name will be Sofer, instead of Mackey....for now.
