I'm trying to come with some obscure songs for a compilation CD. Looking for songs from the 80's & 90's. Not looking for the standard hair metal like Bang Tango, Little Caesar, Babylon AD, Roughhouse etc. The video's are some tunes I got into back in the day.

I really like Heretic's "Breaking Point." It was Metal Church's second singer's (Mike Howe) first recording band. It was also produced by Metal Church's Kurdt vanderhoof. Given those circumstances, it is no surprise they sound similar to the mighty Metal Church.

One more while I am thinking of it..... Powermad !! They were a thrash band with powermetal style vocals. Very unique in their time.........

Not looking for the standard hair metal like Bang Tango,

Really? You thought Bang Tango was standard hair metal? I honestly never thought that, so I'm truly curious. They stood out for me the way Saigon Kick, D.A.D. and a few others did as NOT really belonging in the genre.

And if you are talking early 90's....I loved Mutha's Day out...this was some early rock/rap hybrid, but I thought it was really good. Kind of punk oriented. Faith No More-ish. If you have a low tolerance for rap mix then you probably won't like this, but I did see Mordred listed already.

The GREAT Edwin Dare with Jeff Kollman on guitar. "Feel The Power" off their cd "Can't Break Me" from 1994.

Trigger Effect - Suckbucket (1998). I had to upload this to youtube, wasn't there. This is off their S/T independent disc, tough one to find.

Just a few additions

Some fantastic selections here. I honestly had forgotten about Vauxdvihl, Edwin Dare, Sweetwater, Brother Cane & Powermad. Loved Tangier, DAD, Cats In Boots, Love/Hate, Rhino Bucket etc. A couple other obscure ones I remembered:

From Toledo (I think)

Totally went up to Andy (LIONS SHARE) at PP when he was here doing vocals for Evergrey choir just to tell him how much of a super fan i was of his LIONS SHARE days. :) he was kind of shocked, and one of my most memorable PP moments.

He's still one of my favorite vocalists and one of my best friends. I've been trying to get him to come back to PP just to hang out!! I'm sure you have his Twilight records as well ;)
