Official Electronic Music Topic

I've only heard Tri Repetae and Chiastic Slide so far, but I thought Tri Repetae was the better of those two.

Anyone listen to breakcore? I tried my first breakcore album this afternoon - printf("shiver in eternal darkness/n"); by Venetian Snares. It was very interesting stylistically, though I feel like there's something severely lacking in terms of emotional impact. Most of it just sounds really hollow to me. If anyone could recommend a "catchier" (or more "human" sounding?) breakcore artist, I'd be interested to hear them.

Lately, Electronic has become one of my obsessions. I have had it spinning mostly outside of the computer and on my MP3 player, causing me to have a love for the genre and the interesting material it has to offer. Though when speaking on this stuff, the shit I have been really digging is mostly popular within electronic circles and I have not gotten to much of the so-called "classics." Stuff like Burial and Skream are highly interesting on the Dubstep side of things and Aphex Twin has been also a pretty entertaining listen. Anyone have anything "dubby" to share?

Vihris-Gari, you might like Boxcutter.

hmm, really? Too bad man, I love VEnetian Snares. But then again I only have one album, Detramentalist, which I hold in VERY high regard. maybe check that one out.

My favorite Aphex Twin track.

The meticulousness of the programming is fucking incredible even by today's standards, and this track was made in 1997.

Thanks I am downloading that mix right now. I have been meaning to check out Zomby for a while. Could you maybe send me a record or 12" or whatever you got from him?

Good shouts. There aren't enough IDB fans. Even then, IDB is something of a hit and miss tag, too many artists use atmospheric as a substitute for interesting arrangement and track development. Some of my favourites:

A Few great netlabels making their releases available for free:

Fennesz is incredible, but Squarepusher is horrendously overrated imo. Not a go at his ability, it's just as with most artists signed to Warp Records he seems to automatically qualifies for 'musical genius', while hundreds of better, more talented and more inventive IDM style artists artists go ignored.

What kind of electro is stuff like Deadmau 5 and John Dahlback? Can anyone recommend stuff like that? I always hear the Asian's listening to it and I love it.

It's mainstream house and electro.
I like a fair bit of Acid house and electro, so i can give you some recs in that sort of vein or maybe even some detroit techno, upbeat IDM or breakcore, although these rely less on catchy hooks and more on structural and melodic development, you may still enjoy:

Jeff Mills
Daedalus
Arpanet
Laurent Garnier
Red Box Recorder
Space Dimension Controller
Aux 88
Lastrapink
Eight Frozen Modules
Hexstatic
Coldcut
Ceephax / Ceephax Acid Crew
Luke Vibert

There's quite a range of styles there, I think you'll like at least some of it. If there are any you particularly like, say which and there a tonne more similar artists I can recommend.

Recently got into Power Noise, just exploring some artists at random. Anyone got any recommendations in this genre?
