OH aghora and her is teh good

Aghora.... formed with members of CYNIC.

I quite like this band, but i can't take too much of the singer, 100% female vocalists just don't click with me.

Egyptian? Not quite... Middle eastern of some kind, but not egyptian.

Immortal Bliss is great...

I also gotta get these bands too next time I go:

Unicorn
Libonic Art
Impaled Northern Moon Forest (Im getting this, because they sound so silly)
ebony tears
Hades
NOKTURNAL MORTUM
dark funeral

I spose your right, it's not egyptian, it's middle eastern sounding, I like it.

When i said egyptian, it sounded wrong..

What is the vocalyst of cynic like? Hopefull not power metal vocals.

Cynic vocalist... well, the vocals interchange between 'death-like' vox... and their weird synth-vox...

Like i said a while ago, you should download Uroboric Forms and The Eagle Nature first.... the album versions of these two songs are different, and they aren't as great.

'Textures' is the next song you should look for before you get the rest of the 'focus' album, or some of the idea of cynic may be a bit lost on you...

You are right though, there is a really nice Middle Eastern vibe to aghora, i love it... I'm not to sure where it comes into things tho, it's definately not egyptian or arabic thought, it is not dark enough... Yet it has a nice 'exotic' feel to it...

Aghora is a great band. I recently got their album.
The first half of the album is good, the rest is a bit boring, unfortunately.
And what the hell is the song "Jivatma" doing there? 11 mins of boring jamming.

But all in all, a good release! :)

There's some real upbeat riffs in this album, giving it an energenic feel. I enjoy her voice. I'm also not a great fan of female vocals, but somehow, most of the time, all the influences work well together in this band, unique.

Thanks for the handy links, I'm checking them out right now, the speed is slow, but I can't complain about direct links. Thanks.

I agree, the album seems a bit drawn out somehow, but probably jsut requires more listens. The jam is cool though.

Absolutely. Get 'Diabolus Interium'. One of the best black metal releases of last year...

Kushman, if you like Aghora, you might like Gordian Knot..

Same drummer and bassist as Aghora (both from cynic too)... but with awesome other musicians... really cool stuff. Different to aghora though... its instrumental!!

i lie not. Aghora, interesting little band here. technical metal, egyptian influences, great female vocalist, the bassist is a show off, but that's ok. gets it.

The basist is Sean malone, he was not part of the band he was a session musiciand and that pretty much screams " please show off in my band". Check gordian knot to witness Sean Malone's composing skills.

And well yes it is sad it never got bigger, cause last time i checked aghora was R.I.P. And i dont think they are/could be back cause santiago ( the guitar player ) was running some really bad blood around basically blaming the rupture on Sean reinert ( the drummer ) saying he quited and then the band fell apart when his dad's money was already invested etc. Really sad considering he is the weak link on aghora. Dont get me wrong he is an asome guitar player, he is just obsessed with playing like a metal guitar leyend. Exesive undistinguishable speed, over use and abuse of wah, is not that he is bad is just that his general attitute when aghora broke up was plain stupid and childish from someone who was not even that good considering the level of all the other band members.

Misanthrope, you couldn't be more wrong. Aghora never broke up. They are currently recording their next CD, due out in the Fall. Malone was a session bassist and somehow got represented as being a member of the band. He and Santiago had some arguments about it, which led to some bad blood between those 2 people. Since he wasn't even in the band, it didn't affect the future of the band in the slightest. Anyway, their debut is one of my favorite CDs. I can't wait for the new one.
