Does this mean that Sander Gommans may not be able to be at PPVIII?

Dutch female-fronted symphonic metal outfit AFTER FOREVER has issued the following update:

"We deeply regret to announce that, under medical advisory, Sander [Gommans, guitar] won't be joining the band for the scheduled performances at the CD presentation [on April 17 in Utrecht, Holland], nor the Earthshaker Roadshock Tour [with FINNTROLL, TAROT, DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER, MACHINE MEN and ALL ENDS]. He's currently seeing doctors to diagnose and treat the problems so that he can get back to the band as soon as possible."

Commented Gommans: "Lately, when I've been under stress or performing any heavy activity, I get spells of vertigo and debilitating blackouts, followed or preceded by a migraine. The last few performances with the band did not go as well as I would have liked because of these symptoms and I'm afraid it seems to be getting worse. I'm seeking medical advice to try and figure out what exactly is going on so that I can get better and get back to performing as soon as possible.

"Touring and performing are pretty taxing and strenuous, and I have therefore been advised to remain off stage until this affliction has been properly diagnosed and treated. It's really difficult for the band and particularly for me personally to have to bow out at this crucial time, but I'm afraid it's necessary at this point. I need to follow doctor's orders and take care of myself. I can assure you that my main priority is still AFTER FOREVER and getting back in gear to perform as soon as I am able. Please hang in there and understand that this is a difficult time for me, so some respect for my privacy will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your support and well-wishes. It means a lot!"

It's never good when you have head problems like that. One hopes he somehow sustained a concussion vs. other things it could be. I pray for a speedy and healthy recovery for Sander. Nothing is more important than your health. I hope the band and the fans understand that.

so are they getting a replacement in the meantime for the shows?

regardless, i hope he gets better, sounds like some tough stuff to deal with

That does suck. Do wonder if they'll find a replacement to fill in until he gets better. I guess all we can do here is wish him well and hope for a speedy recovering. I hope it is not something serious, but you never know. He definitely made the right decision to go see a doctor to have it checked out and to take a break from the shows and touring in the mean time. I'd rather that he missed a couple shows to get better instead of something truly serious happening and never have him playing anything ever again.

Forget whether he plays PP USA or not, this is some serious shit he is going through. He either has an inner ear problem, or god forbid, a brain tumor. If he is having syncopatic episodes, and his headaches are getting worse, it is one of those two. Thank God for wikipedia on this one.

Pray it is the former.

Really? Wikipedia enabled you to diagnose him did it? It seems to have missed several possible endocrine problems. Electrolyte imbalances. Dietary insufficiencies. Circulation problems ranging from Aortic or Carotid Stenosis to A-V Malformation. Chronic subdural hematomas. Cranial nerve problems. Parasitic infestation. Herpes. Syphilis...

How about we let physicians attend the diagnosis.

And good luck to him whatever the case may be.

Meniere's Disease is a condition that affects the inner ear's balance lobes, causing severe vertigo, which can lead to headaches and vomiting, and uncontrolled dizzy spells. I don't know if it could cause blackouts, though.

Just offering that one, as a possibility.

Well, I could have gone into my old Paramedic books, but did not have the time.
However, he is in some serious trouble. Let's hope all goes well.
