I have this knarly in-grown toenail. Just touching it sends firey pain throughout my foot. Actually, both toenails on both sides of both big toes are in-grown. But one side has gotten really serious and bloody. I wonder what kind of surgery will fix it.

SCORE

2 pain threads!

When I have ingrown toenails I do the surgery myself, but mine are always FAR from serious.

I get them sometimes. When I was like 14 or 15 and I had a really bad one in my right big toe. Basically, they shot my foot up with 17 shots to numb it and then they cut the ENTIRE TOENAIL off of my toe. Wrapped it all up in a bandage, and then I had soak it in epsom salt for 30 minutes 2 twice a day for a month. After a while a little nub of toenail started growing back and eventually I had a normal toenail again.

It still gets ingrown every now then, but I can usually tell when it's coming and rip it out myself before it gets too bad to hurt a lot.

I'll tell ya what though, a full-fledged ingrown toe-nail hurts REALLY BAD.

I recommend the epsom salt thing, even right now, hot water and epsom salt will help the pain, and help with some healing.

You just have to be careful cutting the toenail if you're prone to it. NEVER cut them back further than the tip of your toe, and it shouldn't happen.

I read some parts of this thread, and so far I don'T know if I should be disgusted or amused. Help me Tom Cruise?

at first after looking at the title i thought it was a sarcastic thing but dude that sucks. i had one before and theres a doctor you have to go to in order to get that shit fixed. i remember last time i had one i fixed it myself. hurt a fuck load but i did it!

Can I get this salt stuff at the grocery store? I can maintain my own nails but I'm afraid the pain on this one is serious stuff. I've never had them bleed and pus before. If this salt numbs it somewhat, and I drink a lot, I can probably fix it.

I just had surgery to remove mine on the 28th...it was in-grown for like 2 years, it had been removed once and it still grew back the same way! So, I had the doctors remove not only the nail, but the bed from which it grows as well. So no more toenail ever, but damn, it feels good.

ive had bad ingrown toenails before. just go to a foot doctor. he'll numb your toes with freezing spray, shield your eyes from what hes gonna do, dig into the toe from the nail, cut the nail, and take the root out where that part of the nail is.
