hah, I'm an expert surgeon by now.
I had this especially horrible one, that had been around for quite some time, and it was amazingly painful. after a while, it'd get all full of pus after a while, which I'd have to squeeze out every once in a while.
now, what I usually do with the especially ingrown ones, is to bend them out, especially if theyre too deep. that way, you can cut them off easily, and it'll usually heal. i had basically the same thing on both feet, for some reason (lousy shoes or something). and on one side it went fine, bent out, cut off, minor fluids oozing out. Ivan was by my side.
but the other one, gross. for some reason, it had a large chunk of meat sticking out, think something like a tiny chunk with no skin on it and lots of red tiny dots. basically a little part of the toe that wouldnt heal. so everytime I'd try and fix it, it'd start bleeding like hell. didnt work to cut that off either, would just bleed more.
so finally I got sort of a nail file thing with a thing that looked like a hook in the end, and I PRYED IT OUT. tada, reason for pus and blood: a damn ingrown side of a toe that looked like a damn saw, with jagged teeth.
it'll take a while, but its healing ^^
oh, and if you want the short easy way out, and you're not too scared, just use a razor to cut that part of the toenail off.
