xfer, did you build a fighting character or an intelligent negotiator character? 'Cause the game is almost impossibly hard with a fighter character. Having high intelligence and wisdom means you can talk your way out of almost *any* scripted fight a winner without having to fire a shot. High wis/int gives you more dialogue options, basically. Just up the small arms skill up to 100% or more and that's the only fighting skill you'll need.

a diplomat with one arms tag skill (small arms) but huge int/wis charisma and talents (or whatever those things are called) like "glib" or "smooth talker" or whatever.

i still get seriously fucked up.

I pretty much breezed through Fallout1/2 by making sharpshooting characters - good w/rifles and pour tons of effort into improving critical hit percentages
