Old EV PL80 mic?

We were cleaning out our rehearsal space and I found an old Electro-Voice PL80 under all the rubbish. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, so I thought I'd ask if anyone knows if they're any good? It's not one of the new re-issues. I've got three of the newer PL80a and I really love them. Great for live vocals. Haven't really tried them for recording yet, but I'll probably be using them for toms.

Damn, seems it's nearly impossible to find much info about this particular mic. All I know is it could be from the 80's, although they have been manufactured earlier, it's made in the US and the capsule has "822" in red, big letters written on it.
