Anyone know where I can get the old (Glam) Pantera?

I've heard the song "Power Metal" and that sounds pretty decent, though Im totally clueless as to what the rest of the CD's are like. So do those CD's suck, or what? And where can I get them?

Maybe someone wants to send them to me on IM or limewire?

Listen to the man with the Red Rooster sig. He speaks the truth.

"Power Metal" is not so much glam as it is melodic heavy/speed metal. More Priest and Maiden than Poison and Warrant.

I kind of disagree a bit. I always have liked "Projects in the Jungle". The first one "Metal Magic" and "I am the Night" suck badly IMHO but "Projects" has actually some good songs on it. BTW it was "Projects" that got me into Pantera.

I must admit though, that "Power Metal" is superior to anything released before it.

Try Ebay! otherwise your fucked and will have to Download them ... Power Metal is GREAT and is by NO Means Glam ... I am the Night is pretty good too as is Projects ... Metal Magic is Pretty Generic IMO ... but I wouldnt say they "Suck" ... maybe just slightly Harmonicly challenged

I reckon...

Metal Magic (1983) - Terrible album. Z-Grade party metal... bad hooks, bad lyrics, bad vocals, bad musicianship, bad songs, bad production.

Projects In The Jungle (1984) - My FAVOURITE Pantera album! Sound-wise I'd compare it to the band Black N Blue, and High N Dry era Def Leppard, with a lot of KISS influence in there too. The production and playing isn't all that strong, but the SONGS are killers! Awesome hooks, great arrangements, good choruses, killer riffs and even some nice keyboards highlighting 3 of the more melodic rock sounding tracks!

I Am The Night (1985) - Same kinda style as Projects but not as melodic, the songs sound more rushed, the hooks aren't really there. It's just nowhere near as strong. Has a couple of good tracks though.

Power Metal (1988) - The first album with Phil. MUCH better production and playing on this one. Sounds like a thinner, more '80s sounding version of Cowboys From Hell really with Phil singing the best he ever did. But the songs themselves aren't all that strong apart from a few - We'll Meet Again, Proud To Be Loud, Rock The World and Hard Ride. The rest of the album is much heavier but for the heavier stuff they got it right more on Cowboys From Hell I think. However I still prefer Power Metal just for those 4 more anthemic, classic metal sounding tracks and also for Dimebag's best playing and Phil's best singing of Pantera's whole career.

I just got some copies of those 4 Pantera albums pretty recently & haven't had a chance to really absorb them. The 80's sound is a bit of a shock to the system, but the cd's are not as horrible as they're usually advertised to be... They really showcase Darrel's axe skills.

the prices of those CD's on ebay are ridiculous - $150 for power metal. Anyone feel like sending them to me in MP3 format for free, or burning the CD and mailing it to me?

You can get PM at Towerrecords...
