Same here, took me two or three years longer though to find what I was subconsciously looking for.

I listened to Piper at the Gates of Dawn today and finally heard it for what it is: Utter. Fucking. Masterpiece. 1967 jesus christ so many types of bands have been ripping off that album for decades and still can't get it right, even the really good ones.

Take any Pink Floyd album. They're all masterpieces. Roger Waters' and Syd Barrett's solo works are remarkable too. Take Waters' Radio Kaos or The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking for example. Haven't yet heard Gilmour's solo stuff.

You absolutely must get Gilmour's first solo album. The second one was ok... but the first one is amazing!!! "Mihalis" is a beautiful instrumental and "There's no way Out of here" is a classic.
