Opeth - Circle of the Tyrants

Heh. I thought the keyboards sounded okay actually. Kinda like how Vader added small keyboard parts to "Freezing Moon". Both sounded interesting and good but of course the originals were much better.

Its not the best cover of "Funeral Fog" Ive heard (Emperor takes the cake for that) But for some reason the different vocal style and the more technical approach overall I thought was interesting.

Vader didn't cover "Funeral Fog", they covered "Freezing Moon". I think the cover is rather decent, actually. Their covers of "Total Desaster" and "Rapid Fire" utterly destroy, though.

Erik, I like how you're listening to Hammerheart so much lately. Completely fucking killer album! (as if anyone didn't know)

CF version of "Tyrants" owns Opeth!

The Stallion is the one that's kind of a letdown for me, but you're right, the rest of it FUCKING RULES, and that one will probably grow on me with a few more listens. I need to get it on vinyl AND cd, just for fun, along with some more Bathory. I only own Hammerheart, other than that i'm a theiving bitch!

No competition, best band ever, says I.

Edit:
Also... while we're on the subject of Blood on Ice... fucking 32 page booklet with an awesome history of the project by Quorthon, as well as written intros to each song = FUCKING AWESOME!

Yeah I'm a whore. Having money rules, I just bought the album on vinyl. I've heard it extensively, but I just don't own it yet!! What better format than LP?

I like Nordland II a lot, but it definitely doesn't reach the pinnacle of the late 80s/early 90s. Also, Nordland I has Ring of Gold, so it's cool! :)

I think digital recording and modern technology might be part of what made the Nordlands sound kind of sterile compared to those old albums that were recorded in a garage onto ancient tapes :)

ill get nordland II when I have some extra money laying around for CDs. The title track for Nordland I is a really, really, really good song.

right on :)

I never thought of that... if it WAS one album with all of the highlights - it might even be close to another Hammerheart (maybe). But hey, considering this guy owned us still after 20 years is amazing. RIP.

Man of FUCKING Iron. kthx

Edit: Oh and the second chorus of The Lake = L:ASDKJF:LSHDG:LKJFUCKINGAWSOMEAHHH!!!
