Ok, I've done my attempt at an Opeth cover
If you're wondering what I'm on about, check this thread:

This is basically a cover of Prologue (yes, off MAYH ), with 2 riffs off 'Into the frost of winter' (yes, that bonus track off the reissue of Orchid ) to give it a bit more depth (considering Prologue has about 10 notes to it and is only a few seconds long ). The lyrics are taken from 'Dirge for November' (BWP, but you knew that, didn't you), simply because it is short, and fitted better than anything else.
Anyway, the song: (which I call Prologue To Winter- it's my cover, I'll call it what I want )

My approach to doing covers is to always put my own spin on something, and to try and screw with the original as much as I can, without actually adding anything I wrote myself (other than harmony parts and stuff), so that it's 99% the original artists work, even though it may be unrecognisable. It's done with a rather strong Thergothon/Funeral Doom vibe in mind, so it's pretty slow (about 32 bpm), although it gets alot faster in the middle. I do think it needs to be a bit slower, but I didn't want to push my luck with everyones attention span There are a few mistakes here and there (you try playing this slow), and the vocals suck (my mic is crappy, and my growls need some compression/reverb/eq/etc), but hey, it gets the point across well enough I think. And no, this wasn't 100% serious, so feel free to laugh at it, I do too
This is on Tripod, so it'll probably get deleted after about 4 people download it , if past experiance is anything to go by. I'll keep creating new accounts as that happens, so be patient (I'm too cheap to pay for hosting)
Appologies also go out to Mikael, for ruining his riffs and lyrics
(ps. I have no idea if the tripod thing is gonna work, given the amount of traffic the board gets (I've done this before on the somewhat quieter Swano forum), but oh well....)
