It's fairly short notice, but if anyone's interested, the Swedish radio station P3 is getting ready (3:00 PM EST) to broadcast 1 hour's worth of this concert from last year.

I don't know if it's the complete show, but it will be a full hour.

The station's URL is http://www.sr.se/p3/live/
- toward the top of the screen, click "Webcast" on the menu bar
- that will pop open a new window with numerous choices, click "P3"

You should be all set at that point. For those who cannot do this, I'm going to record the gig to my PC via Cool Edit Pro, and I'll help some of you out in getting a copy.

Cheers.

Thanks for the heads up,Mark. I will be listening here at work (Not too loud,though.Shhhh).

I actually have this on mp3 (d/l'ed last year off a great Opeth fan's FTP server) but would love a semi-lossless (as lossless as an internet broadcast can be;) version via Sharing The Groove...Hint Hint. LOL!

Thanks again!!!

Are you the same squatch who posts at STG? Cool.

I was running a test to make sure I had the recording ability set up properly (I do), and it seems as if webcasts are compressed, which sucks. But at least it's not AS bad as an MP3.

Here is the info on the show; if anyone would like a copy, PM or email me and we can work something out.

--- DO NOT ENCODE TO MP3 OR OTHER LOSSY FORMAT UNDER PENALTY OF DEATH!!! ---
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

disc one:
01. The Drapery Falls (11:24)
02. Deliverance (13:01)
03. Advent (14:23)
04. A Fair Judgement (10:54)
05. Demon Of The Fall (6:45)
(total time - 56:30)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notes:
- frequency/spectral analysis reveals source to be clean of lossy (mp3) format,
besides the compression necessary to the webcast itself
- aside from a fade-in on track 01, a fade-out on track 05, and the amplifying
of this show, it's untouched. I left all the DJ commentary in, which is kept
to before the 1st song, after the last song, and once or twice between songs;
it's not annoying at all

whats someone gotta do to get a copy of that hog?
Choices:
1) offer me something in trade (this is only 1 CDR, btw)
2) request a B&P (Blank & Postage) - if this is the only option for you, go to www.mcnichol.com/bnp and simply follow the very clearly defined illustrated guideline on how to do a B&P

Either way, make your request through markgugs@hotmail.com

Peace out.

Yep. That is the unfortunate aspect of webcasts in general. This falls someplace between true lossless and MP3, so not perfect, but not as awful as MP3s. At least I'm able to play with it a bit in Cool Edit and bring the levels to near normal. It's similar to a decent MiniDisc recording, only this has the added benefit of having a SBD source, so it's even better.

Certainly not compressed like say, an MPEG.
