not me,but i hope to when i see them at the wedgewood rooms.
the venue is really really small. And only has one entrance, and a tiny teeny backstage area. All of the gigs ive seen there, the bands have to load all of their gear through the front door whilst everyone is queing.
and im staying with a mate that night,so we dont have to leave the show early to get home or anything.so ill just wait for hours if i have to.
I'm planning on at least meeting Mike when I see them in March. Gonna make sure i'm at the venue early to hopefully see them arriving, hehehe.
If not, ill make sure I hang around after the gig for as long as it takes.
news shock: to talk with the guys is not so difficult
here in milan, at least, it has been really easy. they stayed there drinking and chatting for hours, after the show. they'd been there for a long time when i decided to go, and the day after my friends told me they stayed there for one hour more, chatting friendly about this and that.
they are really nice guys (i can say it about mikael and peter, mainly, since i haven't said too much to the others), and you don't feel like thinking "oh my god i'm talking to mikael akerfeldt", you realize only later i guess.
i know the word "normal" could sound bad, but they are.
for the ones planning to meet them: good luck, guys!
about the italian bands mikael likes, the gig, the lp's he's searching for, his friendship with jonas from katatonia, i mentioned this board (to peter i think - which is strange since it was something to say to mikael, maybe) and stuff.
my friends talked with them more, they'd surely add lots of things.
Peter and Mikael are the coolest guys ever! I haven't really talked to the "Marty's", but yeah- Mikael and Peter are the most down-to-earth and unbelievaby humble guys you'll ever meet.
I met them in a record store before their show, but I didn't really talk to them--they signed their portraits on the back of my Still Life shirt with smiles, so they seem nice. I asked Peter what time they were going on and he told me that too, so I guess that's cool.
I went to see them after the Worcester show last month me, my friends, and maybe 10 other people waited outside the tour bus for them. eventually Peter came out and let us get signatures and pictures, we didn't really talk much, but he was really nice. When he left, he said he'd get the others to come out, so we waited about 10 mintues, and got tired of waiting, so we chanted OPETH!! OPETH!! Mikael looked at us through a window and smiled, then came down and gaves us signatures and let us take pictures too, the whole time, he was mainly talking about how "f*cking" cold it was and how it was like Sweden. That definitely rates as one of the greatest moments in my life.
When I was out walking in the streets in gothenburg of stockholm I actually met Peter lindgren! It was during the deliverance damnation recordings! I got a shock when I saw him Anyway he was really nice to talk wit, just like an old friend He told me some stuff about the albums and we talked a bit about our favourite albums
I talked to them for a little while at the 2000 Milwaukee Metalfest. They were rolling a joint(mixed with tobacco, which is how European guys do it...Yuck!) at one of the tables in the smoke room they have there. They seemed to be really down to earth guys who were quite surprised by the crowd reaction when they played. Mike was concerned about that because he knew that Still Life(their new album at the time) was hard to get ahold of here at that time. They're cool, if you meet them you'll find that out!
Gave them a ride around town at the Phoenix show on their last US tour. Hung out with them and Nevermore for a few hours at Nevermore's hotel, drank a few and talked with them a bunch about various things.
I only really talked to Peter and he was really cool. Everyone flocked to Mikael so there was no chance there to really talk to him just got an autograph. Both of the Martin's were nowhere to be found.
