Because it's not pro-tooled to oblivion and it doesn't sound like a bunch of robots playing and there's actual emotion in it.

That I agree with, and I can't stand pro-tools either. I like it when bands still actually record in a studio and use the "old school" recording process.

It's a big reason as to whywhy I like indie rock so much. Alot of new indie bands sound so much more raw and real than a bunch of these fake ass sounding metal records -- mastered so loud that my brain hurts, and drums that sound plastic.
