It would be a good idea. Although I don't think they would have to be on MTV to do it. Not that I would suddenly turn on Opeth because they appeared on MTV or anything, but I don't think Opeth's fan base is large enough in the pop MTV world to warrant such an endeavor. Maybe a DVD release of a one time show "Opeth Unplugged". Good idea.

dude.......u be surprised how famous Opeth is now....and the only reason I said MTV unplugged....czo well they are the ones who started teh whole unplugged thingie.....atleast on a good consistent level........so yeah opeth cna def. do it adn yes ppl will but teh CD/DVD..,....it'll be awesome...........PEAC EOUT

I've yet to see Opeth on MTV at all, but sure it would be great. I've enjoyed every MTV Unplugged I've seen thus far. I've seen Nirvana, LL Cool J, Staind, Alice n Chains & Jay-Z with Linkin Park, if I remember correctly. They were all great ! Considering their technical abilities & great musicianship, Opeth would probably be the best of them all.

Surely "Don't call me Shirley", it would never happen, but it'd be great if it did.

Probably the next album around I could see it happening. That would be great. They'd dominate any other bands that've done it before.

that is funny..."and now for Death Metal from the demons of Sweden known as Opeth...Windowpane!" Then all the crew stare at each other in disbelief as the first melodic notes trickle from the audio. Yeah, Opeth unplugged would be fantastic.

Well from what I have seen Opeth haven't become a whole lot more popular.
MTV is about making money, nothing else. So I wouldn't get your hopes up. Besides, I couldn't see all the Trivium (and other shit bands like that) Who I would assume are the majority of the audience wouldn't appreciate the song length or the prog rock material.

No,Opeth don't deserve that, because MTV is for Simple Plan,Good Charlotte and this kind of trash......Here in Brazil it's difficult to watch MTV...it's only that!!!

whats wrong with Opeth getting more exposure via MTV?? Atleast there will be something good on there for once!!!!
I really don't see what differnece it makes apart from more people getting to see it & hopefully it might make some people realize that there is better music out there than the trash constantly rammed down peoples throats..

there is nothing wrong with opeth being on mtv. it's just that opeth wouldn't have the freedom to do an acoustic show as they deserve it. First, there is a time limit for tv shows, then also i don't think mtv would be very supportive of their song choices.
Doing it by themselves would give them much more freedom to play an acoustic show the way they want. That's what i meant.

As long as it gets recorded and I can watch it on DVD or whatever, then I'll be happy.

Sounds like a wicked idea to finally get some more slower songs played.

No mention of Hours of Wealth yet? For shame. That song would sound godly live.
