I've had this record almost since it was originally released and every now and then I put it on my player and it's still so fucking amazing piece of art. Mikael had great voice on this, much higher than later records and the production is perfect.

Yea, a great album. Favorite song would be the twilight is my robe, somewhere around the 6th minute i think is :hotjump: and apostle in triumph.

I don't really like it, seems very random to me
i'm starting to think this way about all opeth really. i used to appreciate 290485 different sections in songs but i'm becoming more and more picky about the natural flow of songs as i get older. opeth are cut and paste.

hmm. maybe i've been listening to too much sunn O))) lately. nah, that's crazy talk. :loco:

I'm not going to deny that sometimes taking a half hour to expand on a single theme produces better results at holding your interest than something that goes through constant changes, but yes, that is lunacy.
Yeah, I'll continue to defend them, but measuring anything besides drone against them is ridiculous.

holy shit a regular at RC who legally cannot love nor hate opeth!!! :omfg:

hey, when you're poor you have to pick and choose. And somehow opeth never made it into my picked bands to check out. Possibly due to the lack of yousendshitz because every single one of you fuckers has heard every song or something.

opeth songs to check out:

the amen corner
the moor
to bid you farewell
bleak
deliverance

i think i'll make a compilation of these songs and sell my opeth cds. :loco:
