Greatest hits albums are a terrible concept in general. I hate them. It may work for pop artists who release albums with 4 good songs and 8 filler songs so over the course of their carreer they might have produced one album of songs worth buying. But for artists who actually don't suck I think songs should generally be experienced in the context of the album they were on. Especially when the album is a concept album like MAYH or Still Life.

Greatest Hits are usually all the singles compiled onto one CD if I'm not mistaken. Pretty much useless unless all you listen to is what's on the radio or on MTV. Maybe someday the band will do a "Selections" release though, highlighting the band's personal favourite tracks, spanning the entire discography, plus a live track or two to showcase ...

It would have to include the secret instrumental that never made it on to Morningrise.

I also think alternate arrangements of songs, or perhaps a medley of sorts would be cool.

There's no need for a GH album. The closest we'd see to that would be a live album with a mix of songs, and then a rarities/covers/videos disc.

My picks prob to long but eh oh well....Probably a two disc set.

In Mist She Was Standing
Forrest Of October
Advent
Black Rose Immortal
April Ethereal
Demon Of The Fall
Godheads Lament
Serenity Painted Death
The Leper Affinity
The Drapery Falls
Deliverance
A Fair Judgement
Windowpane
Hope Leaves
Ghost Of Perdition
Baying Of The Hounds

I'm guessing you're not on about Requiem?
