Some people just don't like metalcore. How many bands do you need to listen to before you're allowed to not like a genre?

Enough to name some things you dislike about actual respected bands in the genre, and not just the genre "posterboys." The things byrne named are limited mainly to a certain style of metalcore. He really should listen to more before making such horrifying, sweeping generalizations, but alas...
