What's your preferred method for doing this? I've probably got about 10gb of samples (not including the slate stuff) but im just having trouble trying to folder it correctly.

I mean...you've got your snare for example, would you have all the snares in one folder just laid out there so you can audition them quickly in your triggering software, or would you assign each its own folder so that it's more neatly laid out (therefore slowing down auditioning)?

It's a royal PITA to keep draggin 7-8 different samples into a song to see which one best fits, I don't really tend to memorise the characteristic of the sample im using, I probably should.

Any of you organised guys care to chime in? :kickass:

I organize my samples in two seperate main folders, GOG and Wav....

then in each I put in the kick, snare,hi tom, mid tom, low tom....
and in the Wav I do the same thin but I also add crash, ride, hi hat, splash, china.

In those folders I have them either labeled by artist/creator or I label them the type of kit they are from...or brand (sabian, Zildjian, Paiste, etc....) then thats pretty much it....i also have my own labeled as well

OH and I also have a favorites folder....where I COPY and paste the favs in one folder for easy access....which usually contains 3-4 snares, 2 kicks, tom sets and etc.....that is for easy access

I have a Folder for Slate, Lasse and Others. Then within each folder I have folders for kick, snare, toms, cymbals etc. All this is on a 16gb pen stick (which is getting worryingly full!)

My trigger files are the same, but in a seperate folder that's on my hard drive. I really need to go through all my samples and get them converted to tci's.
