Although I joined the forums sometime back , this is pretty much my first proper post at UM. I am a big fan of OL from India. I was quite surprised to know that Kobi recorded some material at the Taj Mahal ! Your music is an inspiration to me. Kobi's words [from what I grasped from the trailer (its hard acquiring the dvd) ] from Global metal really inspires me " I thinks its important for an artist to reflect his place, his culture " . My new Israeli classmate tells me about how you guys have made it big despite the conservative background[correct me if he is wrong]. I am eagerly waiting for OrWarrior .

If you guys could come to India for recording for Mabool, you could as well come for a concert :D . There are more OL fans in India than most people think. If there was an OL concert ANYWHERE in India, I would make it. Be it Bangalore, my hometown, or Agra, where the ending of Ocean Land was recorded.

Great to see a fan from India here- welcome!
To tell you a little more about the recording in India; Kobi was traveling the country by himself and during those travels he made recordings that ended up on the album (the recording in the taj mahal, the kids playing in the street) So it was not like the whole band was there to record. Matti has travelled around India too.

So could you tell us a bit about the metal scene in India Ananth? Any local bands you could recommend?

Greetings Morticia and Kenneth.

The Metal scene in India is still very much in the developing phase. The people who listen to metal could account for a very small percentage of the population. Hardly any sponsors so its kinda hard to have gigs very often. There is a pretty good pub culture though, with quite a few small gigs in these pubs. Unfortunately, playing live music [ rock and metal ] is banned in Bangalore's pubs a month ago. That is crazy I know !! This is because the legislators clubbed us musicians with what is known as ' live bands ' or cabaret dancing in liquor serving areas. Being a conservative place, it is out of the question. We protested and the elder musicians have spoken to the Governor and I hope things will be back to normal in no time.

There are some Local bands that I would definitely recommend. But as of now, the only band with a world class recording [ IMO ] here , is a band called Kryptos. Their second album ' The Ark of Gemini ' was released a few months back and they managed to get a good label ' Old School Metal Records '. And their first album Spiral Ascent's cover was done by Niklaus Sundin .

Any other Israeli bands that anyone would recommend ? Or bands with an approach like OL ?

Sure, Distorted is one of the best metal bands in israel, kind of a doom melodic-death with female vocals, very good, they have tow albums, the new one is the best.
You can also try Salem if youre more like a death metal type, I also recommend they:swarm(death-core, brutal death) Betzefer(that means school) they are much more like a modern metalcore.
you can start with those bands, I will try the bands you gave us and some day we will be abale to seat and headbang with slayer.
:headbang:

Welcome in Dudeall and thanks for giving some pointers on Israeli bands. Can I also add Amaseffer to the list? They are working with talent from other countries too, but their debut album is excellent and contains a lot of influences from the Middle East.

Here are some links for you Ananth:

I'm seriously surviving on OL these days ! Mabool never out of my mind the whole day. Waiting desperately for ORwarriOR. Israeli folks here please enlighten me about their live shows.

Welcome aboard Ananth:) There is one more band from Israel that you
