In my review of CDs for Progpower I am finishing listening to this masterpiece I hadn´t listened to in a long while and it is just fantastic. Highly underrated band. Amazing musicians, music and arrangements...anybody else a fan of them and really looking forward to see them live? (a very rare appearance, even more so than Sabbaton and Pagan´s Mind me thinks)...

They'll easily be my highlight of Saturday night. I wore my Orphaned Land shirt last year on Friday hoping they'd get announced as I figured Glenn would be doing some sort of "best of" stuff.

In fact, I'm listening to The Storm Still Rages right now. Started a PPX playlist on Aug 9th, exactly a month before I leave for Atlanta :)

I suspect the great majority of folks are looking forward to their set, which is why Glenn chose to bring them back on Saturday, which he's dubbed, "Night of Returning Heroes".

Quick note for those that didn't read the Kobi interview... OL had a bunch of computer problems during their set at their previous PP performance, so they were without a lot of their effects. He believes this year's set should be even stronger.

Actually, not so. This will be the 2nd U.S. performance for both Sabaton and Orphaned Land, and Pagan's Mind is touring North America this fall.

They were also without their frakkin' lead guitarist, which makes missing computer effects almost meaningless in comparison! They were lucky that most of the audience didn't know enough about Orphaned Land to notice or care, but from my eyes, OL without Yossi Sassi was like Iron Maiden without Steve Harris, Dream Theater without Petrucci, or Iced Earth without Jon Schaffer.

So even though I was lucky enough to see them at ProgPowers on both sides of the Atlantic that year, I still haven't seen the "full band", so their appearance this year is will easily leave me with the biggest regrets for not going (and also the opportunity to presumably hear some new material would be nice).

BTW, the part about the missing effects didn't make it into the part of the interview posted online. And, you know they have an album called 'Sahara', right? :)

So I guess I shouldn't admit I got it from Sabaton's tour history on their website and not the Art of Prog. *whistles*
LOL... no. I'm sure lot's of people are aware they've played the U.S. before. I was merely stating that had he read the interview, he would have known.

True. However, that was a well known fact talked about on the forum prior to the show.

Had you read my Sabaton interview, you would have known this...

Ignore the Art of Prog interviews at your own peril.

I steadfastly ignore the interviews posted on these forums before the festival. That gives me an excuse to read them in the program. I read the interviews when they were posted the first time it was done. When I discovered that they were word-for-word what was in the program, I was really disappointed. I like the read the interviews after seeing the band and after the fest.

OL is the main reason I'm sorry to be missing PP this year - lack of effects and primary guitarist didn't stop me from enjoying the hell out of their last performance, both at the preshow and main show.

Interesting. Well,whenever they're read, I hope they're enjoyed.

Easily one of the most anticipated sets for me this year at PP. This will be my first-and-a-halfth time sponsoring them.

The last time they played, I had only heard of them when Glenn told me "Hey, I think I've got a band you'd like to sponsor. Orphaned Land!" Then, when I told him I hadn't actually heard them yet, "Dude! Run, do not walk, and get a copy of Mabool!" I got a copy from Laser's Edge (thanks, Ken)...loved it, called Glenn and told him "Sold! I'm alll over this!"

A few months later the band-announcements trickled out, and I wasn't listed as a sponsor for Orphaned Land.
No-one was.
WTF?
--And then Glenn announced Therion and the surprise was mine. :heh:

I guess the only thing that could make their 'whole-band' performance sweeter this year would be the return of Eden. :kickass:
