OSI:Blood

Portnoy's a great drummer, granted, but he stays pretty much steady through his career. I don't hear him switching up new styles much, which is disappointing because I'm sure he could. It just all sounds like Portnoy.

And also, I didn't know the Office put out a new album, I MUST buy it. Even before listening to it. Who produced this one?

Portnoy plays blastbeats on the new Dream Theater album.

and it sounds stupid.

though not as bad as his growling attempts.

and yeah the akerfeldt track does nothing for me. the wilson track on the first OSI is <3.

Wilson > Akerfeldt as far as vocals in my opinion. I still like his work with Ayreon a lot though on The Human Equation.

I am yet to hear the new Dream Theater, is it a continuation of their more catchy poppy type sound (Octavarium in particular)?

I don't hate Portnoy, but cut the 'tude and the ego and expand his horizons and he could be even bigger.

No, it's like a dark and heavier Images and Words. Nothing like Octavarium, thank God.

One of their best albums, Images and Words

I concur. I remember when it came out, I had just moved to Seattle. I wore the fuck out of that tape and remember walking around Pike Place with my parents listening to it. I really like Scenes From a Memory and Awake but I have an odd significant liking for Images and Words. I think it's because of the memories it gave me....or something like that.
