Anyone here know what bands are gonna be opening for Overkill on their upcomin tour of the USA?

No idea but they are a gem of a thrash band that are overlooked in the same vein as Testament which is a shame.

Overkill are great musicians...although I find myself looking for the Kareoke button. The 80's Halford style vocals are not my style.

Blitz isn't really Halfordesque...if anything, he sounds most like Brian Johnson or Bon Scott. But hey, each to their own.

No West Coast dates yet, but if they come ANYWHERE near the City, I'm there no matter who I have to kill.

I honestly envy you guys for even being able to listen to this band. I tried my damndest to listen to bands like Nevermore, Iced Earth, Overkill, etc...but all I hear is White Lion singing "Meanstreak". Those 80's cheese vocals kill it for me. But like Pyrus said, to each his own.

I can see why you would ay that Iced Earth and Overkill have 80's style vocals but Nevermore??? What they do have never been done before... Warrel sings like no other... I really can't think of a song on wich he sounds 80ish...

I dunno dude. I'm gonna be seeing Nevermore and Dimmu Borgir play live in November so maybe I'll force myself to give them another try. I just know I'd rather hear the screams of black metal, the growls of death metal, or the shouts of metalcore music before listening to that guy from Nevermore sing again. I know I'm not alone. But again, the music is awesome! It's just the vocals that kill it for me.

I also dislike the '80s type vocals. However, I did immensly enjoy the Halford, Iced Earth, and Maiden shows despite their vocal style. Especially the Halford/Testament show. On the last song one of his guitarists was playing some crazy ass lick, and started ripping off strings, low to high, as he was playing. When he got down to 2 strings and was done he just set his guitar down and walked off.

My dream is to see them play something off of Into the Mirror Black sometime in a live setting so I can hear him do one of those signature screams he used to do! GOD he's got range!! I LOVE his voice!
