ozzfest is on hold this year while ozzy completes a new studio album slated for late 2009. oh well i guess i'll wait until next year to finally see ozzy. why does he make new albums though? they haven't been good since ozzmosis. black rain is ok though

Why does anyone/band make new albums? Because they want to come out with something they are proud of no matter how long it may take... Ozzy needs to discover a new guitarist or get Jake back...

Was the matter, he cant find anybody that can write a good song he can take credit for anymore ?

name 1 ozzy tune from 1980-1995 that you know ozzy wrote most of either the lyrics or music

Suicide Solution, Goodbye To Romance, Mr. Crowley - that's about it. In Sabbath times, I think his only truly major contribution, that is - written by Ozzy with little help from others - was Who Are You, which is awesome, admittadly.

I don't have the reference to back up this, but I read once in an interview with either Iommi or Butler that basically they both compose everything in those days, but they credited the whole band (Iommi, Butler, Osbourne, Ward) as a sign of friendship.

If you check the Dio years and the Gillan album, the music is always by Iommi/Butler/singer and lyrics by the singer.

show proof that he hasn't... but anyways who says any artist has to write "most" of any song whether lyrics, music or both... there are no rules to songwriting... anyone can contribute an idea, a lyric line, song title, riff etc..

Ozzy's last GOOD album was No More Tears.
That's debatable but i most likely agree with this assessment... like i said imo Ozzy needs to get rid of Zakk and bring in new blood for the guitar slot...

I would say he made more contributions on the first 2 albums other then the ones you named as well as with Bark at the Moon and Ultimate Sin albums... and also No Rest for the Wicked...

As for Sabbath, I would say it is debatable and that he mostly contributed to lyrics especially in the early years... when Iommi didn't have complete control... and like i said there is no reason why a person has to have a majority contribution to a song to be considered an important contributor to the songwriting process... a line of lyrics, song title, etc.. to me is sufficient enough...

Not keen to see Ozzy live anymore or hear a new album of his...

Regarding his song contributions, I'm sure he always had something to add. All those drugs must of inspired something!

lol some people need to go read interviews with bob daisley. its obvious the stories daisley tells about the songs are true and ozzy's are fake. daisley said ozzy wasn't even in the studio when he and randy wrote goodbye to romance. the music composed almost entirely by randy during his quiet riot days and can be heard during randy's live solo's. daisley said the lyrics were about a failed relationship. also daisley wrote suicide solution about ozzy. the song is not about bon scott like ozzy says. even after daisley was no longer the bass player in the band he was still paid to write lyrics

ozzy's probably contributed to about 10 songs in his solo career. why do you think ultimate sin is out of print in the usa? sharon was screwing daisley and a few others out of royalties. every song on bark at the moon is credited to just ozzy. a few of those riffs can be heard when jake e lee was still in ratt so why doesn't jake have a writing credit? all of screwing over of ozzy's songwriters is 99.9% sharon

It doesnt matter who contributes, its who gets credit. After a few decades of Ozzy this and Ozzy that and knowing the truth he is jaded to me. Im sure he had input here and there and at least adjusted his own vocal parts, but that wasnt the point of this origionally coming up.

I liked No more Tears thanks to Zakk and it was the last I heard.

so this post sounds like you agree with what i was saying

i saw ozzy 2 years ago at ozzfest when it was the free one. He did pretty awesome. Great set, great voice, Zack was phenomenal.

i'm glad i didn't see this performance

i'm still pissed with ozzy over the waste of a boxset and the lack of bonus tracks on the new remasters. he shouldn't have taken any album out of print in the states (ultimate sin, speak of the devil). the just say ozzy e.p. should have been part of the bonus tracks on no rest for the wicked and no more tears. "back on earth" should have been the 3rd bonus track on ozzmosis. why aren't the songs from the mr crowley e.p. (mr crowley live, suicide solution live, you said it all) on either the boxset or bonus tracks on blizzard of ozz? where is the other version of "no bone movies"? i found out the bonus track on diary of a madman (i don't know live) is not the actual b-side version released in 1981 but its the exact same version as on tribute. why isn't the live version of "bark at the moon" that was a b-side to "so tired" not on the bark at the moon remaster? don't get me started on the boxset ozzy has been screwing fans for awhile now

In his defense, Sharon runs his busniess affairs. That said the shit keeps selling. Sharon should make The Ultimate Sin available domestically again. You can get it as an import. I have the boxset. I don't mind it... I don't listen to it much but I did upload a number of the tracks onto my iPod.
