ozzfest on hold for 2009

In his defense, Sharon runs his busniess affairs. That said the shit keeps selling. Sharon should make The Ultimate Sin available domestically again. You can get it as an import. I have the boxset. I don't mind it... I don't listen to it much but I did upload a number of the tracks onto my iPod.

yeah you can walk into almost any music store and get the ultimate sin, speak of the devil, just say ozzy or live and loud (all out of print in the states). hell i see them at best buy plus they have a 3 pack that has diary, bark and ultimate sin and its the real diary and bark not the remixed and re recorded versions.

that boxset sucks. almost every tune is available in other places and most fans own the songs already. it should have had more demo's and hard to get live stuff or the b-sides that weren't on the remaster bonus tracks. the mr. crowley e.p. should have been on there. disc 3 is the best idea for a disc but its missing a few songs like the one with lita ford, the one with coal chamber and the bill ward solo track ozzy sang on. it should have been 3 discs of rare stuff and then a 4th disc of collaborations. the covers should have just been a seperate disc which they did anyways

Like Sixxi said don't blame Ozzy, blame Sharon for EVERYTHING! He's just a fly in her web. Why do you think Iommi and Butler knocked on Dio's door and formed HAH, it was pointless to deal with a bloodsucker and brain fried pair.

There are lots of pointless box sets out there...

Except in the case that you don't have the whole collection I have never seen the point of a boxset. I haven't bought one in my whole life.

i have a few boxsets that are worth the money.
*the bruce springsteen boxset is 4 discs of b-sides and unreleased tracks.
*the graham nash boxset makes it so you don't have to pay $50 for each of his out of print solo albums
*the david crosby boxset has 1 disc of all unreleased tunes and some stuff from out of print and pricey albums
*ac/dc bonfire boxset is a good purchase for live stuff
*kiss boxset is a decent enough boxset
*the alice cooper boxset is worth every penny

Not excactly a revelation, but you're right there are a number of them out there. I like the Ozzy set that's just me.

its basically an ozzy hits set with a covers album and duets thrown in. not good. you should never release a boxset that only has 2 discs of a 22 year (at the time) solo career. the essential ozzy osbourne 2 disc set has just as many solo tunes on it. someone had made a much better boxset which was every ozzy b-side and import bonus track, the demo's/alternate versions that are on the boxset, the live tunes from the ultimate sin on the boxset, the live perry mason on the boxset, the mr crowley e.p., some live performances from tv shows, any ozzy hit thats not represented already (shot in the dark, dreamer, etc) and the duets disc with "shock the monkey", "close my eyes forever", "jack's land" and another tune added. it took up almost 4 discs and the person said ozzy could have recorded about 4-5 covers to fill out the rest of the time if he wanted to do some covers

I already have a rarities collection on a bottleg set somewhere. I'm not a huge Ozzy fan I guess, my favorite albums are Blizzard, Ultimate Sin, No More Tears and Ozzmosis that's really all you need I think....
I have a feeling there wil be another box with some of the stuff you listed. How could there not be? Sharon is still running his business affairs isn't she?!

lol thats true. i love blizzard, diary, bark at the moon, ultimate sin, no more tears and ozzmosis. tribute is good too.

i found the boxset the guy made. he just listed all the tracks and said its 60 songs divided over 4 discs but broke down the type of tunes so you can see what he did. these are the 60 tunes he made a boxset with but on his its 15 tunes on each cd in release order but the duets cd being the 4th cd

he also said you can squeeze "dog the bounty hunter" on there if you want.

he had a 5th disc (dvd) to go with it that was some ozzy videos and tv appearances. i don't feel like listing that but overall his boxset is much better

i'd just like to say that queensryche, motorhead, judas priest, willie nelson, waylong jennings and johnny cash have done a great job remastering their catalog and adding some bonus tracks. the queensryche stuff has great liner notes too. the few early santana albums that were remastered did a great job too.

ozzy did a decent job aside from the re-recording of the first 2 albums and leaving off a few b-sides and import only tracks.

worst remastering job was ac/dc who added nothing and megadeth because lots of stuff was changed but they have good bonus tracks

Life and Crimes of Alice Cooper? If thats what you mean hell Yeah! I finally have "I saw you sitting there ripping the sawdust from my teddybear" and "I love America".Its great when you get those unreleashed tracks.

Speaking of Ozzy, how does "down to earth" fare? Is this the cd with Dreamer? I don't recognize most of the track listings, are most covers?

yes life and crimes of alice cooper. "i love america" is on the studio album DADA though.

anyways "down to earth" is a typical ozzy album. "facing hell" and "black illusion" are the best songs IMO. the 2 singles "gets me through" and "dreamer" are decent enough. i bought it used for $4.99. worth that much but not much more. there are no covers on that album

while we are on sabbath here, dio kicks ass
second ozzy needs to raise randy rhoads from the dead
third black rain wasnt half bad but it didnt make me want to kill shit which is a requirement of most newer metal for me

black rain sounds too much like a BLS album with ozzy singing

I don't have the reference to back up this, but I read once in an interview with either Iommi or Butler that basically they both compose everything in those days, but they credited the whole band (Iommi, Butler, Osbourne, Ward) as a sign of friendship.

If you check the Dio years and the Gillan album, the music is always by Iommi/Butler/singer and lyrics by the singer.

I don't know the source anymore...so I can't back it up! But it was an interview where Ozzy was talking about this old synthesizer he owned and used to screw around with. He stumbled onto the notes of Who are You? He then wrote the song. It's a really basic, "riff," so that's a pretty believable story. It was a little more detailed than that, but that's the gist of it.
