PARADISE LOST to support NIGHTWISh on U.S. tour.

In support of their forthcoming album release “In Requiem” on Century Media, the godfathers of Gothic Metal, Paradise Lost announce a special guest slot supporting Nightwish on their autumn tour. The tour will be only the band’s third visit to the US, after previously supporting Morbid Angel and Opeth.

Paradise Lost’s 11th album, “In Requiem”, was produced by Rhys Fulber and mixed by Mike Frazer, and marks a return to their heavy trademark sound.

Nick Holmes comments: “We can’t wait to get to the US on a great tour, and try and make an impact after years of focusing on Europe.”

thank you so much for posting the dates for me and everyone else here. The Masquerades website does not list dates past June yet.

Ok.....I know I'm going to sound ignorant on this one , but I've heard of Paradise Lost but have never picked up any of their stuff......what/who do they resemble? Any cd recommendations??
Thanks ~ Andy

Actually a very good question. :) In my humble opinion, PL were ahead of their time when they started out in 1990. They were more of a gothic death band with growly vocals on their first three CDs, but by the time they released Icon in 1993, they were starting to use clean vocals. 1995's Draconian Times is probably goth metal perfection. They went in a more goth rock direction in the late 90s until around 2002 when they released Symbol of Life. Their self-titled 2005 release is somewhat of a return to the Draconian days, though, with a slightly more metallic vibe.

Hope that helps! :)

Dear god. If I'm still in Baltimore next fall, I'm definitely going to try to make the trip down for Paradise Lost, but I'll be out in the lobby drinking for Nightwish...

Love Paradise Lost. Draconian Times was the be all and end all of gothic metal for me when it came out. Have all their stuff. BTW, old school classic of theirs is "Gothic". Get it! Have never had a chance to see 'em before so I can't wait. Curious as to how Nightwish will be with new vocalist.

"Draconian Times" is the good "starter" album, but I like "Icon" a little more. "Gothic" is also good and a must-hear if you want to hear where the "gothic" in "gothic metal" came from. A lot of people hate "One Second," but give it a chance (Orphaned Land even covered "Mercy" from this particular album). I also liked "Host," but then they lost my interest for awhile afterwards. But at the least, I feel that they were pursuing a legitimate musical interest, not a "let's dumb down our sound for the American masses" interest. But still, very excited that I'll get to see these guys, they have my respect for creating a melancholy sound which is near and dear to my withered lil' heart.
