Parametric EQ or Waves SSL E?

What’s the difference from using a parametric EQ compared to something like the Waves SSL E? They are both making cuts/boost correct? Are you able to get the same results from a parametric EQ as with the Waves? Still very new to mixing and wanting to know the difference. Thank you.

The waves E is parametric, at least the two mid bands are anyway.parametric means you can change the center frequency as well as the Q-factor/width of the boost/cut.

Parametric EQs are really useful in mixing, sometimes you'll want a clean EQ, sometimes something vibey like the SSL

it really depends on what you want to try to achieve, whether it's pristine clean (in this case go for parametric eq, especially when you want to make surgical notches) or have more "life" to it (go for anything you like, whether it's Neves, SSLs, APIs, or any other EQ models)

i personally go for clean EQs because i'll saturate later on
