Finally managed to track down an a capella of this tune to create a metalish version. Gotta sync it up with the vid in a bit. There's an annoying tambourine shaking going on in the DIY a capella which is kind of hilarious, see if you can pick it out:

UPDATE: Here it is synced with the vid AGAIN. Youtube ruining my life... Haha... PS the part with the most lulz is just after 3:05 when they're strumming along with the chugs...

Dude, sounds nice, I think you're guitar tone is just a little bit too bright. past that I love it.

EDIT: I think the bass is clipping a bit also

Thanks for the feedback guys. I did notice the toms were pretty thin... I just need to ditch the compression.

Is the entire track clipping on the low end? I know the wobbles are a bit loud and clipping...

I'll adjust tomorrow.

Glad some of you guys like it! It's pretty easy to do if you can find a DIY a capella floating around. Lots of dance/DJ types on Youtube which make them using filtering/phase cancellation and post downloads. I suppose we could do it on our own but I can't be bothered to spend that much time cleaning up a track.

Anyway, here are the details:

Drums

Addictive Drums for OH/Room
Slate/Behindert/Fat City blend for snare (Lots of Massey CT4 compression and Tape Head on each with different settings + Heavy EQ and some preclipping for loudness)
Bricasti room and plate impulses on aux sends used for verb

Guitars

Jackson guitar I'm borrowing from AWath with EMGs- not sure which model
AWath also reamped with 5150 for me, to which I added some high shelf

Bass

Fat Rock Pick from East West Colossus library- sounds great for single notes but lame since there's no random/round robin multisampling
Only 1 track through Pod Farm 80s amp with minimal tweaking, add some low end boosting and grind with Sansamp + compression

Mastering

T-Racks Clipper (just to catch stray transients), API compressor clone (light, only like 2db gain reduction), Massey L2007 limiter for loudness followed by one more instance of T-Racks Clipper to squeeze a little more out of it

Hope this helps- get Behindert's snare if you don't already have it, it adds so much win when blended with almost anything.

PS - Is the Youtube video actually blocked? It works for me...
