Parkway Drive set to record with the guy that did...The Melvins?

Weezer? Yes.

Taking Back Sunday? More in the indie side. Not really radio.

Coheed and Cambria? Definitely not radio rock. -___-

hahaha....once again

Hey what do you know, check out number #13...?

TAKING BACK SUNDAY???? DEFINITELY INDY DUDE

And wow, coheed is seriously so overplayed on the radio here I can't believe you would say that they aren't radio.

Well to me, the term "radio rock" generally means a genre (albeit a pretty loosely defined one), not so much whether a certain band gets a ton of airplay on the radio - and the term "indie" almost seems like a misnomer, since there are a bunch of absurdly popular bands on pretty big labels that I would consider "indie"

But yeah, TBS is fucking awful

Nice try, but your obviously the shit for brains. You should probably learn to take things into context before trying to act like you know what you're talking about.

You're telling me that Queens of the Stone Age ARENT a radio band? Weezer? Taking Back Sunday? Coheed and Cambria? Hahaha you are a flat out moron if you think JB doesn't have a large amount of rock radio hits under his belt. And no, I don't try and mean this as a put-down, but more as a "Hey this is probably going to be the heaviest band he's recorded....ever"

I can name off maybe 3 bands he's done that HASNT had extreme "Hit Rock Radio" branded on it. I find it funny it took you this long to take what I said out of context for no reason and try to call me out and make yourself look like an idiot.

Er... some days, I actually have work to do. Sorry I can't be here 24/7 to show how much of a fucking prick you are.

For what it's worth, the only reason that QOTSA could even be considered "radio-rock" is because they worked with Barresi!! Josh Homme and Barresi have been working together since the Kyuss days, and Kyuss are pretty fuckin far from "radio-rock" (and they kick ass!!!). Anyone who has heard the latest Isis album can't tell me that Barresi doesn't know his shit!!

BTW Isis = non radio rock also. Barresi's work on Tomahawk's Mit Gas album is pretty epic too!! Honestly I had never even heard any Parkway Drive music before checking out this thread. I'm an old school metal dude too, and think these guys are pretty damn good. More like Lamb of God than August Burns Red!! Checked out some ABR stuff because of this thread too, and THAT crap fuckin sucks (to me personally). That's the kind of shit I hate... screamy whiny vocals with techno guitars that don't go anywhere!! but that's not the point of this thread so...

Who could blame PWD for going with Barresi for their next project? If you had the chance to have him or Andy Wallace or some other epic producer mix your songs would you say no thanks?

They're obviously looking to take their music to the next level, and working with someone out of their comfort zone is the perfect way to do that. Otherwise they are just gonna keep regurgitating the same old shit with the same producer over and over again!! Good for them for taking the leap!!

Did Mastodon put out some great shit with Matt Bayles?? Yeah, three great albums worth. But when they wanted to evolve to a new level they go and get Brendan O'brien.

OK... let the floggings begin!!!

PS - having this thread dissintegrate into a piss and moan fest is what's wrong with this world, not what music we like or dislike!!!

Sure Brett G probably recommended him since he's produced Bad Religion. I mean, he's payin for it.......

That being said, definitely a strange combo.

It's one thing to jokingly say a band suck, or a producer/engineer suck - all in an obvious jokey manner. But when you're being an absolute wanker about it... that's a bit of a different story.

TBS are okay.. nothing I'd listen to constantly, but I'm less offended by that than I am by hair metal

I comented earlier and this thread is pretty much shot anyway, but I will say that I'm a big Baresi fan. I don't think he is right for everyone but I think
#1 he is incredibly talented and IMO creates far more of a true representation of bands than Albini ever has and
#2 he seems to pick bands to work with rather than the other way around and no doubt takes a pay cut to do so (if you think he needed to work with satyricon and enslaved after 10k days you're crazy).
Again, I've never heard this band before....

Man I was gonna make some stupid drunken post in here last night, but my thoughts are pretty much that there's some terrible hypocrisy from a number of people in this thread. I don't see how ripping of KSE or whoever is any worse than all the other local bands that haven't made it ripping off Dark Tranquility or something...... Tall poppy syndrome is right.

Anyways, I think I should give some context since I'm sure some members like to write off posts by people as "oh he's just that dude who loves every band with a breakdown so who cares what he says anyway". I often have awkward moments when talking bands with people since I'm forever saying "nah, I'm not really into them" when people roll off lists of bands they think I might be into (even when I have one of those "fellow metalhead" meetings). This is to say that I feel I'm quite discerning (maybe too discerning?) with the bands I actually listen to much and I fuckin enjoy the shit out of PWD. I don't even like KSE anymore (didn't get into anything past Alive or Just Breathing TBH). PWD might not write the most groundbreaking or complex shit, and they might do some fairly predictable breakdowns (I'm really not usually a breakdown fan) and things like that, but fuck me if they don't know how to write a song that is enjoyable as shit to listen to, and as others have said, they've worked their arses off and the couple of them I've met are really nice dudes (not that that has anything to do with the music I understand).

I'm interested to hear what Joe does with their sound. I'm not a big fan of Adam D's productions but I will admit they worked pretty well for PWD.

Egan, I find it offensive that you expect us to actually take you seriously on this forum. You're far too rational a person for us to want to think about your overly valid and probably correct points!

Baressi does great stuff. So it will be different, that can be great!

About the band, its funny how they got no respect from either hardcore or metal camps and forge their way into a new scene and took it on an international level, and helped create it, by working their butts off apparently.

Cause anyone into hardcore/metal down here before hand still goes 'oh them? pffft'

Music....

hahaha i am really stoked for this cd tbh i do not like adams production on the past cds not one bit at all. they need a ghost inside type of mix
