I'm obviously playing around when I say I shit on Vikings. Yes I know the culture is on the decline, but it has lasted much longer then many other ancient Civilizations.
I'm not very Native, I just like to defend it. I'm adopted so no I don't live any of the traditions and would feel like a poser if I did.
That being said, there are many many people that do speak their native languages. I don't agree with you on the fact that if you aren't speaking the native language, the culture is dead. Many kids are brought up on reservations learning the traditions of there grandparents, through the english language. How does this belittle or negate said traditions? Of course the words that can't be translated to English are used. It is much easier to keep the Native culture in tact using English, in fact, because it joins all the tribes together with a common language which they can use to discuss matters.
The tribal government would fall apart if people only used their native language. Only a handfull of Native languages even have the writen word. It just wouldn't work.
Even if the "racial purity" of Natives is on the wane, the culture will always be intact in some form, at least for a very long time from now.

Buddhism!!! Way to go with your indigenous spirituality man.
Haha, you have to follow the religion with you racially-approved-stamp?
Also, Zen isn't anything that can't fit into Native American spirituality, or any other tradition for that matter.
