This has been another dreadfully difficult time here
in the exodus world…this is one of the most depressing
moments of my musical career…I‘m saddened to announce
that Tom Hunting has fallen very ill, he’s been
hospitalized several times over the course of the last
two months. First things first! I need to be very
clear about this before any rumors arise….this is in
NO WAY associated to drugs…Tom had conquered his drug
addiction well over a year ago and we are all very
very proud of him for the unbelievable amount of
strength and desire that it took to get and stay
clean..

Our unfortunate reality at the moment is, the
recording of the new album has been delayed due to
Tom’s illness and recently it became evident that he
would be unable to resume his duties behind the kit
for us. …. Tom and the band both know he cannot
continue as our drummer and his health must come
before any obligations to the band. We have and will
continue to support Tom in any way we can so he can
regain his health.
We all love and care for Tom dearly and will continue
to help him in every way that we can….by no means
was Tom fired or nor did Tom quit the band …the
sad fact is that Tom is not able to play drums
at this time….and we (Exodus) have got to carry on
without him….

On a brighter note I'd like to take this time to
welcome to our ranks as the newest member of Exodus,”
Paul Bostaph” (Slayer, Forbidden) We could not be any
luckier than to have as awesome a drummer as Paul
available and living in our own backyard. I am stoked
about working with Paul as he is, bar none, one of the
best drummers in the world, and we are fired up to
have someone with his ability coming aboard.
Obviously, the tracking of the new record will be
delayed, but we are committed to hitting the studio
ASAP. The songs are fuckin' savage and a perfect fit
for Paul's style of drumming.

As soon as we get into the studio and start tracking I
will keep everyone updated on how things are going via
the exodus message board…..my goal will be to give a
daily studio report…..and before you know it maybe a
few sound clips will be made available to hold you
over until the September release…

Get well soon Tom!

yeah... i found out about that this morning. I'm not really sure what I think about it. Paul Bostaph is my fav Thrash Drummer of all time so that fact his playing in exodus is fucking amazing, but Tom Hunting is a legend and he "IS" the exodus drummer, so i'm saddend by the fact hes not playing, and wish him the best in getting well soon.

Hmmmmm Unlucky for Tom, its a fucking shitty situation! what is actually wrong with him?

What do you think is happening with Bostaph and testament, especially seeing as there are two drummers available to testament on the current tour...
are testament going to re-unite properly with the old line up?

what you guys think!?

In my uninformed opinion I'd say that the fact Tom was well into his drugs back in the day could have something to do with it.

I doubt Paul will go back to Testament seeing as the tour ends in, what, July and Exodus will be in the middle of doing the new album then.

that is a good point
its weird that nothing has been mentioned of either him and metal mike though, i'd kinda appreciate knowing what they are both doing concerning testament!

oh well

the next month or so and im sure all will probably be clearer!

well i spose they were just doing the usual thing of using top quality session musicians for touring,
but its just the way it seemed to be like a matter of fact thing that both were in the band. and then not. with no real signs or anything.
lol

i just want a fucking proper album, and dude i'd love it if the original line up re-united! ...even though i loved the later albums, they sure would rock my world if they released an album with louie and alex and greg again!

No, I did. But the fact is. Tom was a heavy drug user back in the day. It wouldn't surprise me if the days of excess were catching up with him... I'm not saying that it's because he's still a pill popper or what ever.

I mean Ozzy hasn't done crack since '91 and check him out.

This sucks for two reasons I hope Tom gets better and i wonder who be playing for testament on the new CD.

to bad Paul sux. He can't keep time and he fuckes up the double bass kick on Angel of death.
One time. Just one time. I've heard plenty of drummers with fanboys backing them saying nothing about their favorite drummer fucking up. Bostaph is one of the world's best, and that's it. He plays his own style. Since Paul likes to vary his playing a bit, he should make an excellent addition to Exodus to bring a bit more depth into the standard thrash sound.

If by varying playing he can't keep tempo, sure. Bostaph sucks, I can think of way better drummers than Paul. Sure he sounds good on all his recordings because they can fix tempo problems in the studio. Watch the old slayer dvd, the one where he plays. He changes tempo and looses it through out the whole dvd. Kinda like megadeth's old drummer they had when they did their dvd. I can't remember his name off hand b/c his shittyness doesn't merit space in my brain.
