Aww :( I think it's only when you start having kids of your own that you realise how much you need your own parents. I don't know what I'd have done without my mum when I had my son :) I'm sure your dad is dying to see you all! :)

I think your definately right there, my sister who has 3 kids was really there for us all through the pregnancy and around the time of the birth etc. As was my mum who had wanted me to have a child for years.

My dad phoned the hospital the night Jessica was born (i emailed him from the ward when Julie went in) , i had barely heard anything at all from him for months so you can imagine the emotional impact that had on me, he called literally just moments after i saw my little girl come into the world...I was a wreck....Loved every nerve shaking second of that night though!

Sending my dad pictures and stuff isnt the same, im desperate to see him and for him to see Jess.

LOL.
My Dad certainly seems to like it there and has only had good things to say about the people there. He seems to be quite popular himself too, joined a bowling team and everything lol

What is an English "type"? lol Speaking for myself - if I went to live in another country, I wouldn't want English pubs, etc! If I wanted that, I'd stay in England!! I can't stand it when I go abroad and the English people just want a "full English" breakfast, English bars, English beer, English this that and the other - why go abroad if you want it to be just like home?? Isn't English a funny word, when you say it loads of times? lol

It's a very special time, Valanx. I'm glad you're open to it. Some guys just shut themselves off...

Meanwhile, it looks like I'll be off to PA in a couple of years! Just need to complete my degree, sell up, sweep Maureen off her feet....

Cheers, folks!

I think when you have kids you relise how much they did for you.I spend most of life worrying about my daughters. My oldest started school they other week and while i was so proud of her in a her uniform.I was a little sad and didnt know why.The wife said its because she lokked so grown up and its the start of the whole school, work thing.

I know how you feel, Wilks :( While I think being a parent is one of the most important things you can do in life, it's probably also the hardest. I cried buckets when my son started Reception class, I thought he was too young, still my baby, etc...and it was even worse when he started Secondary school, because they expect the kids to grow up so quick, and I wasn't ready for him to grow up (I'm still not!!). I really struggled when he started secondary school, moreso than when he went to primary school  He's in his third year there now - the time just flies by!! My mum always said that no matter how old your kids are, even when they have their own kids, you never stop worrying about them - and I think that must be true.

yeah, Jess is in my thoughts almost constantly, i do most of my worrying at nights where i feel an almost constant need to check on her. Every wednesday she becomes another week older and i look forward to each new discovery she will make, she likes watching her feet and toes move about, she holds and strokes her little dog teddy called 'ooh' <-- her favourite sound she makes alot etc,. i could go one all day im sure!

Wilks your right i do now feel differently towards my mum and dad, its weird the connection with your parents you get when you have your own, its just a shame that there wasnt digital cameras and all that good stuff when we were babies...Im really looking forward to ebarassing jess when she is older....Ive have 4 pairs of rechargable batteries constantly in use or on charge to record everything lol

Another thing i have to mention is (and it may be hard to explain) the way my whole attitude has changed toward my wife, seeing what she went through during the birth, it changed me forever, i dunno im just amazed by her now and in some ways feel alot like i did when i first met her....... maybe it did make me into a big softie as sammi said ;-)

:)
