Peavey 5150 mk1 vs. mk2, do they have different sounding hi-gain channels, wich one sounds "best"?

And you still can't get a decent tone from it lol.

My tone owns your mama nigga!!! Not after its gone through a shitty delta though, there again- its probbably just mixing really now which i dont tend to work on much... one of the down sides of having a day job :p

A small point I'd like to make is that it's the settings you make yourself and the gear you pair with it that makes all the difference - in my last few shows I've played with guys running mk1 5150s and their tone was AWFUL - thin, screachy and painful. Whereas I generally get an awesome, full, powerful roar from my 5150 mk2 - and that's not me trying to be big-headed at all, just saying that the head itself isn't the be-all and end-all...

I know it's a cliche asking, but di'd rob flynn use an mk1 or mk2 on the two first machine head albums?

To my knowledge he's only used block-letter 5150s, or "mk1" to answer your question. That and he's also been known to boost them.
