Ok guys, help me out here, my poweramp has a direct out socket on the back, this is the description it gives in the manual:
DIRECT OUT CHANNEL 1 (22)
Provides 600 ohm, transformer balanced signal to be used as "direct" patch into mixing consoles, tape recorders, etc. The signal at this point has been frequency compensated for low noise operation.
Ok, now what I would like to ask is.........Since this is an xlr connector, could I simply take the xlr cable out of my mic and plug it into this, running the amp into my mic pre in on my soundcard? (i know it will probably sound shit, but I'm thinking of running impulse sims on it, for late night recording)
And also, when I'm doing this, there is no pots for output levels for the direct out, should I be using the pots on the front? And am I to assume that it will turn off the output to the speakers when something is plugged into the direct out? As I know it's not good to turn a tube amp on without speakers plugged in.
