Any idea what kinda pickups were used on this?
just seshing it now and i'm blown away by the guitar sound :headbang: and the music too, dirty stuff!
mega twangy guitar sound though, sounds like single coils to me, anyone able to confirm? D:

:headbang:

Well at least live Mameli has been playing Steinbergers for ages but recently switched to Ibanez (RGTs), both equipped with EMG 85s/81s. I'm pretty sure those are EMGs what we hear on the record too.

im listening on youtube.. sounds fucking sick even for youtube's shit quality! but honestly those guitars sound like ampsim/impulses.. i could be very wrong but its something about their character...

FUCK this album sounds SO damn good!
good lord
who the fuck engineered this/mixed this? i want to buy them a beer haha

Jacob Hansen.

They recorded with Jacob Hansen at the Hansen Studios. I think I read somewhere that they used Marshalls, but I'm not sure. Live they used Engl Powerballs as far as I can remember.

e: damn, I was too slow :D

I can't really enjoy the new material even though some tunes aren't bad, but Mameli is such a gigantic phoney douchebag with an enormous god-complex.

This is the same guy who used to regularly insult fans of his own (early) music up until roughly 2 years back now (when he decided to reform Pestilence). The people who made him in the first place. He had nothing but disrespect for Pestilence fans and the metal community in general.

I'd bet my ass that if his C-187 project wouldn't have had nosedived like none other, he would have never revived what he calls "Pestilence" now.

There is ZERO honest passion about what he does now and, sadly, I can hear that thus being unable to really enjoy the new tracks.

Yeah, fuck him.

1. Check the cd notes on who recorded the album, surely you must have bought this!
2. You are a professional mixer and you don't know Jacob Hansen? Only one of the top engineers/mixers in metal atm.

1. No, I didn't, but it's on my to-buy list. Problem?
2. I like to think my mixes are pretty decent, but I'm honest enough with myself to know I'm FAR from professional. I took a look at the list of bands he's worked with and nearly none of them jumped out at me. I don't listen to much metally metal anymore, and there's even fewer metal engineers I give a damn about enough to follow. The few that I do follow pretty much hang around on this forum or are discussed here frequently.

Don't turn this topic into some sort of witch hunt dude.

No worries, I like that you're being honest. Let's try to support the good bands.
