Pick The Bands Contest for Pre-Sale ticket buyers

What?
That's as absurd as saying any touring band is off limits, since they are on tour and it won't be special.
Manilla Road plays at most, maybe 3 to 4 US shows a year.

Maybe you need to get some "Crystal" logic, instead of whatever logic you are using..........

well the amount of fest they have played now definetly diminishes the impact they have now adding them. Before when they rarely played it would be a big thing...now people will be like....well I saw them 3 times last year already.

Not to mention if they do that US tour that is rumored. I'd still love to see them, but I don't know if adding them will add any more people at this point.

Just because they played ONE US festival THIS year (not three), doesn't mean that people wouldn't want to see them here.

I get your point to a degree and am only contesting it considering the large number of touring bands which you have recommended.

not this year...in almost a years time....

1. Warriors of Metal Fest
2. MDF
3. that texas fest.

not that it would detour people from wanting to see them, but for the types who do travel to multiple fest it could be a turn off saying that....well I wont go to this fest because there are only a few bands I really want and I can see Manilla Road at this other fest.

there hasnt been talks of any regular touring bands playing the fest? or people asking for bands that tour a lot.

While it would be cool to have them. They are not the draw you think. I know they didnt pull in huge at WOM. I am sure with it being in Chicago it would draw better but it just boils down to that atittude of superfan thinking the bands they love always are best.

Well I'm sure all 5 people who attended WoM AND upcoming MDF AND upcoming CiT won't be too stoked on Manilla Road.

Most of the metal bands announced for CiT this year are also playing MDF.

Hey, it's all about the combination of bands, and getting people to hop the fence.
Someone who might consider coming for OMEN (as that's Manilla Road's best comparison so far), will most likely definitely jump that fence if another perfect complement band to OMEN like MR was there.

I guess I can't say with any certaintly how many people are considering traveling to BOTH MDF and Ragnarokkr.

That Texas Fest? Come on man! They have a killer name!!! CHAOS IN TEJAS!!!! That's brilliant!

I don't get your post at all my friend..............

I suppose you are taking a dig at WOM's low turnout.

Though not sure I get your point on MDF or CIT?

No....I'm saying that there's probably all of 5 people who attended WoM who will also be at MDF and at CiT. So Manilla Road playing all 3 within the span of one year won't stop them from being a draw at another fest.

I am not trying to diminish thier appeal. Just saying with all the bands out there today. All the fest are going after them. Having them would be a solid booking but you lose a slot that could be filled by a band not playing any other fest which makes this fest stand out more. They may be a better booking down the line after they have played and wont be back at those fest for a while.

Agreed 100%
Though once again, with this logic, no touring band should be considered, which I don't think would be a correct assumption that no touring band is being considered. Get it? Got it? GOOD!

Yes I agree. I think the number of people who will attend even 2 overlapping US festivals this year is very small. Then multiply the percentage who would be adversely impacted by a repeat SOLID band in keeping them home from one or the other would even be more miniscule.

Once again. Bob Byrne and Statistics go together like Kory Clarke fronting Trouble. Interesting to watch, but always a train wreck in the end.

And don't forget that at these other fests, unlike at RMA or PP, there are multiple stages so even if someone has their panties in a wad over "BUT I SAW MANILLA ROAD LAST WEEKEND 1500 MILES AWAY!!!!" there are choices for you to go watch someone else, or go watch no one.

That said, I do agree w/ Bob about having MR this year. They are a bigger draw than Oz and Omen IMO and I'm sure a lot of the Chicago crew will be making the trek to Baltimore or Austin. The fests are so close together and people will be looking to save pennies where they can.

there are a lot of chicago people who go to Ragnarokkr who go to MDF.

Plus Manilla Road aint cheap. The finacial Gods are not kind to Odin this year so also take that into account when making comments.
For what a band like Manilla Road is asking and what it cost to get them here....you have to consider thier draw and if it is worth the time and money for them. You could get 3 younger newer bands with a buzz going for what you could get a band like MR.

Nor should they be. They are the real deal. The real mccoy. The whole enchilada!

so are lots of other bands....take off the fanboy blinders my good man. While they are on of the few relevant US traditional bands around....they are not a popular that you think. We both saw them years back infront of 30 people. Sure they have grown since them but like I said...there are other bands who can pull in more. Sure it would be great to have them but in the stage the fest is in now....bands that pull in people are what is needed.
