FUck that pisses me off. I always thought that the profire was supposed to be very transparent

I'm pretty sure NS is using the instrument input and not just a line in on his profire (I hope anyway)
Anyways I've tracked using both my radial j48 and profire and to be honest there is a VERY little difference in the two units, the j48 has more harmonics and a slightly more defined low end thats it. but even for me to come to those results I had to spend a while looking at a spectrum analyzer. I couldn't hear the difference really (apart from a low mid boost in the radial)

So, since my DI's apparently sound like shit, maybe you guys can tell me why.....

My setup is:

Carvin DC747 BRAND NEW STRINGS

Monster Cable

Profire 2626 with -20dB pad pulled so it doesn't clip

firewire, straight into my computer..


Could it have anything to do with pulling the -20? I don't think that affects tone..

the carvin di-03 is with fresh strings?
I hope our definition of "fresh" is differnt, because it doesnt sound like fresh strings to me...

If you need something better for you DIs, find something with a drag (variable impedance) control built in. It helps.
