I own the first cd but honestly never opened it,due to the piles of music I need to get to it was overlooked. Big mistake if it sounds anything like the new cd!!! Michael Kiske is still truly kicking ass and putting together great music with great musicians (Magnus Karlsson is on this as well). Pure melodic hard rock and completely fresh. Take special note to track 8 "A scene in reply". I cannot stop listening to this cd, not 1 filler...all 12 tracks kick ass! (and I thought this would be cheesey power metal).... I WAS WRONG!!!

I totally agree, this cd really surprised me, considering the first cd wasn't horrible, but just didn't hit me. Kiske sounds the best he ever has on this disc and it is his most emotional sounding performance, at least to my ears(I guess the music ended up not being too heavy for him so he could just relax and let his singing come out in full glory).

I'll be getting this for sure. I've just discovered the first Place Vendome disc a few weeks back. If you can get past Kiske not doing Helloween style music, then it's great. Of course I love melodic hard rock, so it's a no brainer for me. :kickass:

I LOVED the first CD and am excited to see this one getting good initial reviews. For those of you who've heard it, is it any heavier than the first? I could have used just a touch more "crunch" on the first CD.

I just got to hear it today and I agree it is a great followup. I have not completely digested it yet. Got to give it a few days to soak in. Remember the first CD was in my player for months.

It's cool to see a Helloween fan getting past the fact that Kiske is not doing power metal any longer. :kickass: The guy can sing the phone book and make it sound great to me!

I love Kiske but some of these songs on the new album don't suit his voice that well...there are a few on this new one that would sound great with someone like Ted Poley singing.

What is that screen in front the of the microphone? Is it there for audio purposes, or just to protect the mic from spit?

It's a screen to protect the microphone from spit :) Very common in recording studios.

What gets me in this video is that you don't see the rest of the band. Supposedly this is a pre-release video and not the final version. I assume they'll include the band members in the video for the final cut.

Which makes me wonder... is Kiske just a "hired gun" to do vocals, or is he really part of the band. Doing Google searches I really couldn't find much information on Place Vendome :u-huh:

This song (My Guardian Angel) was written by Magnus Karlsson of Primal Fear. In fact, every song was written by outside writers. Even Joachim Cans has a writing credit on this album. According to the liner notes by Kiske, Frontiers Records wanted Place Vendome to be a "Kiske Project". The album is completely AOR and that's fine with me. Good melodies and choruses... Thats all you need to get me hooked.

I love the album as the first.

How much $$$ would it take for Place Vendome to play a slot at a future ProgPower?

The backup band is virtually Pink Cream 69 (Zafirou, Ritenauer, Ward, Werno). From what understand, the video is supposed to be a rough cut. Maybe a polished version will appear in the future.

I received this from NEH Records the other day, and it's fantastic! :worship: If you haven't given it a listen yet, then do so. :kickass:

Indeed. It's my favorite of the two by far. Michael sounds awesome, as usual :)

I don't think modern AOR/Hard Rock is a very welcome addition to ProgPower. :Smug:

Not to mention Michael won't go onstage with them anyway.
