one bad show experience I had was with my band opening for soilent green. we couldnt hear shit in the monitors on this shitty cramped stage, were sloppy because we hadn't practiced that month, and my keyboard did this horrible high pitched sceetch because I accidently changed the patch to this fucked up weird sound. also all of the national bands on that bill (watch them die, into the moat, a perfect murder, soilent green) heard us because the place was small and they just hanging around. the dude from watch them die complimented us, but I felt it was just out of pity.

...and that was one of our better performances...
Play in a local band, then talkTeh Grimarse said:paying for local shows = pwned
Does it matter? If you see a good show you see a good show. I would prefer paying to getting in for free because I feel like I have given something and deserve to be there. I have and use hookups in various locations but not to get into stuff free, just cheap. In other words I don't do that but I don't really know why.Teh Grimarse said:i've played in like 14. i now play in 3.
if you are really part of 'the scene', then you should know enough bands/club owners/doormen to get into any show for free.
that is the guage of being 'hip'.
only fanboys and high school kids pay.
