I'm still waiting for a somewhat fucking interesting topic to come up except the "recommend me this" "recommend me that" "what is your favorite band" "what is the heaviest band" blah fuckedy blah. It's not hard to go to a record label's website and listen to bands. No one gives a shit what other people think is the heaviest band neither.

i understand that not everyone can be on the inside, someone has to show up, stand in line, and pay, but those people should aspire to be so infused with their local scene that they can come and go as they please. it's not just about getting in for free, it's about getting the best time slots or getting to open for the best national acts because you know the people who set up the shows, and it's about the clubowners and other influencial people having respect for you (so you dont get ripped off).

just sitting in your room with a guitar and not knowing anybody is not the way to make it.

No, it isn't, and like I said, I have and use freinds who know people who know people, but not that well. When I get a band together I will really be able to use some potential hookups

I enjoy the topics and personalities here, as well as the fact that I am looking for a metal education and this is the best one I can find, which is saying something. I have learned of so many awesome bands here, and been endlessly amused here, that I would pay to be here.

Yeah, and bands should pay people to have to listen to their pathetic attempts at performing music, not the other way around. Supporting local and/or underground music is gay.

believe it or not, not every local/underground band sucks and is devoid of musical ability. not everyone is lucky enough to have 50000 friends and 50000 connections to get their dicks sucked enough and to suck enough dick to be popular enough to get a record deal and devote a large amount of time to tour. Just pick which locals you support. The reasons locals have a bad rep is because the musically talented bands have no fans and the wigger 2 power chord bands have 5000, so guess who gets the better gigs. by not supporting good local bands you are just fucking yourself over the next time your favorite band rolls into town, because instead of decent locals you get that hardcore band that manages to have a shitload of local fans.

and if you dont support local music, it is also probably because you fail even as a local musician

I had the worst experience when my band had a small show..

During one of our songs the bassist came up next to my drumset and started slapping the shit outta the bass and he got me into a frenzy and my fill was about come up and I guess I lost control and managed to break my drumsticks on the rim, and one half of the drumstick hit a string on the bass and it made the loudest fucking noise ever, and the audience all started laughing so it wasnt that bad...but it was embarassing as fuck!

P.S Zildjian should stick to making cymbals..their drumsticks fucking suck!!

Worst Performance Performed: I was playing with my first band about 5 years ago. Normally, we could play tighter than anyone else out there, but the monitors weren't even on and the venue sucked all the sound out to the audience. The audience could hear great, but we couldn't. The only thing I could hear was our drummer's crash cymbal to his right. That gig was so bad, out guitar player left crying, literally.

Worst Performance Witnessed: Bonnie Prince Billy opening for Bjork at the Hollywood Bowl in 2003. The loudest applause of the night came when he walked offstage after torturing us for an hour.

Oh, and that YouTube video from earlier was hilarious.

we were auditioning to play this big fest in town on campus. our guitarist decided to cut the last part and didnt tell the rest of the band. we didnt get the gig.

or how bout the time when the monitors on stage were fuzzing out and after a couple songs we decided it needed to be fixed. so were workin with the sound guy, and this drunk asshole/wannabe singer for the house cover band started talkin trash about us taking so long. the situation ended with our guitar player about to stab him. no joke, he had the knife in his hand.
