I've heard that new Slipknot song several times . . . and . . . (gulp) . . . parts of it are actually pretty good. Apparently the band has started using more "traditional" song structures, but what I hear is a band that wants to slowly move away from the nu-metal scene. Instead of going pure extreme metal, they seem to be changing to a more "rocking" style. Sort of like AIC "We Die Young", for example. Unfortunately they still have some pseudo-hip-hop influences. It'll be interesting to see the reaction to this new Slipknot sound.

Jeez . . . I must be bored.

That's two threads, now, about mainstream bands.

Dude, you might as well give me all your real metal CDs, remove your balls and put them in a jar, buy a red head and wear it backwards, and wear a Carson Daly t-shirt.

To be honest, from what I've heard about the new album, I might be inclined to check it out if I've got some disposable income knocking around. Mind you I did that with the last one and it was utter shite...but from what I've heard that's different about this new one, it sounds like it might be up my street.

All I can say really is that is that the new album is a lot better than the triple they've put out the past three years. But don't expect me to buy it.

Yes, and "St. Anger" is the new "Master of Puppets". I say spend your money on an album you KNOW is good.
Oh, I'll be doing plenty of that too...but, meh, my curiosity is still piqued!

For 9 dudes these guys don't make a whole lot of sound. Don't they have 3 drummers or something? I heard their first one a thousand times and it never did a thing for me, the only thing I can remember from it is some hidden track at the end that sounds like the reactions to dirty porn or something, very weird.

Is that what it is? I figured as much. You hear like 14 dudes saying shit like "aw, gross!" "oh man, that's sick!" for about 10 minutes. One of my bros used to play that CD ALL THE DAMN TIME when we'd be in his garage pounding beer, that's seriously the only thing I can remember from it.

Of course, this now means that anyone opening this thread should be VERY CAREFUL because Nate will probably post some shitfun pictures now. :loco:

How about this girl trying to pull her underwear off over her head instead of the shit pictures?

here, commit seppuku and save the rest of us the trouble.

oh wait! CAMEL TOES!

you may live.

i heard the whole album, i like it.... i don't know what you mean by more "traditional" song structures, as this album does the exact opposite, it is a lot more diverse, complex, and technical.... i think they did a good job, definately a step foward for them, there is some excellent dual guitar work on it as well

A friend of mine apparently bought the album yesterday and today decided to interrupt my Emperor listening to put it on. Nothing stood out at me really. The vocals are not to my liking, for some reason the guitar sound seemed odd, and I think I heard a DJ or something making gay noises. He only played some random segments of songs and I really didn't pay much attention, but I don't think its something I will bother with unless something really stands out the next time he plays it.

Oh man, we used to love that album when we were 14! :D The first half would flood back to me in a flash if I put it on again. I dunno, I might do it tomorrow, after Emperor...probably not though. I dunno.

Oh yeah, it's got guitar solos on it, hasn't it? And Moog synths, right? That's what made me wanna blag it...

No way. He's good I'll give you that, but DiGiorgio is unruly.

Melvin Gibbs > any other metal bassists, at times even Cliff.

Heard most of the album at a party last night. It's alright. Couldn't believe I was hearing guitar solos and acoustic bits on a Slipknot album. It's quite a departure. Might have to get a copy burned for me :)

So yeah, I heard one song on the radio last night, wasn't bad at all. Drinking brews with some bros and the general consensus was "whoa, this is Slipknot!? How come it doesn't sound like shit?" :tickled:
